This movie isn't exactly bad, but it has none of the fun and goofy charm of the original Total Recall. Love him or hate him, Arnie S. has more charisma in one little finger than Colin Farrell has in his whole body, and the actual story of oppression and rebellion in the original movie, stuff you actually cared about, with real (mutant) people being affected, is reduced to a bare hanger for a lot of pointless chases, action sequences and special effects. Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale are both serviceable in their roles, but so lacking in distinctiveness that they could have switched roles halfway through the movies without anybody noticing. Brian Cranston is good, but his role is fairly minor... any movie heavy would have done as well. What was good was the seamless special effects and great Bladerunner-esque environment created for the movie. Too bad they didn't save them for a better, more original movie. Oh yeah... a certain bit character makes a throwaway appearance here... her assets appear to have been molded out of real latex rather than candle wax. That has to count for something, right?
