A real winner. After all these years I finally made it to The Velvet Goldmine. What an incredible journey through the seventies with everyone apparently high on sex, drugs and rock. This musical drama is a feature that has everything going for it. It hardly has a perfect script, however, but the direction makes up for it. It just goes for the jugular! The story is a thriller of sorts and has all the raw emotions and feelings a person experiences in that crazy world. McGregor and Meyers play gay very effectively in this film that works on several levels. An added bonus for me was Toni Colette who is one of my fav Aussie actors. The film seems to have something of a cult status going for it. Some old timers in their 30's should give this flick a chance. I was not disappointed!
