There is no question that this movie is a brilliant piece of work. The acting is superb but so also is the camera work and the long continuous 'takes'. All of the actors are wonderful. Okay? But, and I think here is where your own taste has to guide you, it is nonetheless another excruciating exploration of artistic self-absorption in the 'free world'. Maybe I can't separate art from life but the trials of an actor who is brought so low as to have to sell his Malibu house sits poorly with me. Suit yourself however.
