Somebody in one of their comments said that to enjoy this movie it was best if you like musicals to begin with. I couldn't get into the movie because it's not natural to sing everything. Performances were outstanding, that's true and the few words they did speak made me wish for more dialogue. Some of the songs went on forever. Costumes and sets were excellent. What's with the jumpy camera and quick cuts the movies use today? Wasn't that just called 'amateur' before this annoying trend? And did I miss something... the story is supposed to take place in France, but the actors had British accents and especially the adorable little boy... distinctly cockney.
