The scenery was spectacular and the story did have something to say about whether love exists - I found it to be very honest near the end where they have grown old and they portray elderly people as sexual beings - most people don't want to think about that - but it's true and honest - I found it to be refreshing. However the ongoing plot where the leading man sleeps with over 600 women - has lead me to nickname the movie Love in the Time of Syphilis - it's just not possible that he didn't catch an STD. Also I felt the movie could have had more character development - I found myself guessing a lot as to what the characters were thinking. But it is worth seeing and would like to read the book.
