A movie that splices 2 stories into one - first the subplot of the planet Melancholia heading towards earth, and the main plot that deals with depression and family dysfunction. I thought it was effective in its depiction of a woman suffering from the ravages of depression - the end comes as release from the human condition. Gorgeous cinematography, filmed in the same style as Antichrist. Strong performances. A beautifully depressive art film.
