The Artist

I saw this film because of all the outstanding reviews. I consider myself a film buff and love old movies so I expected to see something really special. Unfortunately, this is the most over rated film I've seen in a very long time. Half way through I asked myself if the film were not silent, in other words if it did not have this hook, would I be even remotely interested in these characters and this story. Sadly, the answer was "no". The film is very slow paced. The art direction and performances, however, were very good. Other than that I would not recommend it. I just don't get all the hype. I think the film is being praised by critics just for the sake of being different. Give me Harold Lloyd or Buster Keaton any day over this. They are the real deal.
