X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is a science-fiction movie revolving around the following theme: genetic mutation. My question after watching X-MEN is: what is the underlying quest of genetic mutation? The quest of immortality seems to be a possible answer to this question. Now, why are we as mortal human beings so fascinated by genetically mutating ourselves into something else? This originates from our fear of death which unequivocally destroys life. Hence, to preserve ourselves from the fatality of death, we tend to embrace the possibility of genetic mutation as a solution to death. However, why can't we embrace death as a powerfully positive experience in our journey through life? X-MEN does not provide a glimpse of an answer to this interrogation. Anyway, good movie and worth seeing...
