I think that this movie was an okay movie. It is worth seeing but a little confusing. It was ok!

I loved the hobbit! The only thing that wasn't in the book was the white orc.

Not bad, could be much better. Dragged in certain areas.

I love the Lord of the Rings books and movies, so maybe my opnion is a bit biased ;) but I loved this movie. I love how the creators kept the music from the other movies, and how even though the story is dark, there is still humour. My only complaint is that it stretches on for a bit too long I'd say, but other than that, I love it! :)

The Hobbit is unexpected in many ways, but my biggest enjoyment here was the continuity in adventure that kept going. It was fun and sweeps through imagination like nothing I have seen all year. No it is not incredible but just good stuff to watch and immerse yourself into. The film certainly takes way too long in pace and direction, but by the end you feel you've got you're moneys worth.

Awesome movie, I could watch it a thousand times and it would never get old. It is definitely worth the price of admission, and if you haven't watched the lord of the rings trilogy this movie will make you want to watch them.

Been there, done that... Melodramatic soap opera. Really, the first movies said it all.

Amazing! Peter Jackson has outdone himself! I loved even more than the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, which I think are all 10/10! Martin Freeman is perfect for Bilbo, and Ian McKellen did just as well. It's as good as the original books! The dwarves are hilarious! It's epic, you won't be disappointed.

It was okay. It felt like it was riding on the coattails of the Lord of the Rings series, but didn't quite measure up. It definitely had its moments and sometimes those moments took flight for a while, but in between it felt a bit laboured, slow to get started and relying too much on battle scenes. The 3D is the worst I've seen so far of the modern 3D films (but then I'm comparing it to Avatar and Life of Pi, which might not be fair) The 3D effect also had its moments when it really added something to the visual, but then it seemed like there would be these deliberate "time to throw in a 3D special effect" tricks that felt forced. Some of the 3D rendering was also blurry and looked like poor animation. A lot of the fast action was also choppy (not smooth), so the 3D overall was a bit disappointing and sometimes distracting. This really should have been a higher resolution film with more effort spent on the quality of the 3D. I was surprised and pleased that they managed to get the same cast back (as in LOTR), which lent some authenticity and continuity, but I didn't feel the story quite captured a life of its own to pull it together as a stand-alone story. I liked Martin Freeman as the younger Bilbo Baggins. Looks like there are 2 more sequels in the works, which I will probably see. As for this one, if you're expecting something of LOTR quality, you might be disappointed. But if you like Tolkien's work and can resist being a perfectionist about how it's done, go see it anyway. You'll enjoy it.

This is an amazing piece of work done by very talented and loveable actors and crew. The amount of blood, sweat, and tears that went into this production made it one of the best fantasy movies ever made.

Cool movie, lovable characters.

Not at all what I was expecting. In hind site it did encompass the story structure of The Lord of The Rings but didn't feel like it was part of it... The cinematography was really good. Just not as much story to the story as I had hoped for.

Amazing cinematography, epic characters and fantastic lore. It was a long movie but you would not know it and I cannot wait for the next one!

It was great but not as good as I thought it would be, it was about half as good as Lord of the Rings.

I am a fan of all of the Lord of the Rings, but this one is my favorite. As with the others, the scenery is amazing, and the big screen brings this story to life.

Once again Epic Film!!! I loved this film a lot, saw it first 3d standard version loved it, then in 48fps and I admit is weird getting used to the HD quality and the movement but it depends a lot on the theatre, if they have top notch gear for the screening... so inform yourself before going. I recommend the 48 fps experience of new technology then see it at home on blue ray 3D.

Great film... I would say not as good as The Return of the King but it's really good... love the views and the dwarf kingdom... absolutely a must see.

Visually exciting and reveals a history of middle earth which is cool, elementally fun and expanded. For as long as it is, being only on piece of the original adventure tale, 'an unexpected journey' is a good time, but not great.

The movie was amazing, I watched it a month ago and I'm still wanting to see it again and with the detail it tops it off.

I think that this movie is a so-so type of movie because there were lots of mistakes in it. That is because the book doesn't even follow the movie ONE BIT! It kinda does but not a lot. They didn't even get the part of going to the lair of Smaug! The story was well written by J. R. R Tolkien and I think the movie will be an okay success!

I admit I was disappointed after the first viewing but I found I quite liked it the second time. By viewing #7, I was totally in love with the film. Sure, there are parts I will skip over when I own the DVD but that is true of the LOTR movies for me as well. Casting is spot on perfect! Some spots of poor CGI but overall very impressive.

Peter Jackson has taken a wonderful children's book and, while keeping the story "essentially" the same, has changed the focus just enough to turn it into an adult quest for redemption and validation, a "Man against himself" as well as "Man against nature" epic adventure. While Bilbo is "coming of age" as in the original story, Richard Armitage plays the noble, tortured, driven, dwarf prince Thorin Oakenshield so convincingly that the viewer has no difficulty suspending disbelief in the world of Middle Earth and all that entails. For Tolkein lovers and Tolkein neophytes alike, this first of 3 parts creates an inevitable longing for next December's 2nd installment and the return of Thorin's valiant company to the big screen. On top of all that, the three "hottest" dwarves you could ever imagine make for some really impressive "eye candy" for quite a few of us in the audience. Thank goodness the DVD ships in another week!

Great movie... we liked the story, the cast everything.

Martian Freeman goes from the perfect Dr. Watson (SHERLOCK) to becoming the perfect Bilbo and Benedict Cumberbatch goes from being the Perfect Sherlock (SHERLOCK) to the perfect necromancer. I didn't see that coming!

GREAT MOVIE. For all fans and non fans, you will love this movie.

By far the most disappointing movie ever, I expected so much more. They made the movie almost 3 hours for what, there are so many scenes that weren't nessecery and they didn't even get into the dragon scene. Huge disappointment!

Boring beyond belief, fell asleep and began snoring... now that's BOrrrIInnnggg! It takes real talent to bore the hell out of an audience, they deserve an Oscar.

Great adventure, full of excitement and unexpected moments. Characters are thoroughly believable, special effects are amazing.

Beautiful camera work, excellent costume and makeup, amazing locations, humour, valour and a good message. It was as good as the first film in the trilogy, I didn't want it to end. Can't wait for the sequel.

Those that did not see this in IMAX 3D missed out on the best movie experience of the year.

I liked it better the 2nd time. I love Peter Jackson because every time you watch one of his movies you like it more! The music is brilliant! The sets are incredibly detailed especially in 48 frames per minute! The third time I see it I might give it a 10!

Just found the movie way too long and dragged out. Almost nodded off a time or two waiting for the story to move on already.

This is an almost flawless retelling of a classic book. The sets were incredible the acting very well done and even though we all know the basic plot it was a real treat to see it adapted to the big screen.

I found this movie very enjoyable and awesome on the big screen.

We thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Have seen prior attempts, but this was very well done. Followed the book, and the casting followed the books descriptions. Movie was engaging and kept your attention for the full 2+ hours. Long, but not excessively so. Recommended to see - two thumbs up!

It was great. But it was very dark and hard to figure out what was happening. Everyone should go watch it right now.

I read the book, and even though I love fantasy, books, and the LOTR series, I found it very plain, boring, and I just couldn't get into it. But the movie, well, it's better than the book! It kept all the assets and details of the book, but added new parts to make it more interesting. As a Lord of the Rings fan, I approve and recommend.

Classic movie. If you like TLOTR and have read the book The Hobbit you will love this movie. Little bit of an uneasy ending.

I would definitely say that the movie was more adventurous than the book, considering that the book is more fantasized and slow paced. They included Radagast the Brown, who is actually in the fellowship novel, and the white goblin (Azog) who is in one of J. R. R. Tolkien's novels, which is a great twist for action scenes. Martian Freeman was the most cutest Biblo! I can't wait to hear Benedict Cumberbatch voice Smaug!

I saw the Lotr trilogy, and absolutely loved all three. However, the Hobbit was so bad that we got up and left after only an hour. It was pathetic. It was poorly acted and BORING!
