This is the 2nd time I see this movie, so it doesn't look as fresh to me as it would to someone else. I still enjoyed it. One thing though, it isn't really a comedy, and barely romantic in the normal sense of the term.

Amazing simply phenomenal the actors are great.

The French wine country location of this movie, is beautiful. Unfortunately the filming sets can't mask the poor acting and story line. R. Crowe is not doing anything, that has not been overdone before.

What a waste of time. I was looking forward to a love story with a picturesque setting. The setting lived up to expectation, but the movie was dull. Russell Crowe is so much better than this. Yuck!

It was simply, fantastic. I feelt it's the story of my life!

Russell Crowe was not great but the movie was light and entertaining.
| 7/10 | emfarr@ - 4 reviews 1.12.2006 - age: 50+ |
What a good movie this was! Russell C. Caracter was very interesting the same for Alber F. & Maron C. To be honest I was surprise that I enjoy that movie because of what was said by the critics. If you're expecting to see high drama orthings blowing up you'll be desappointed. This movie was well written and directed (beautiful scene from France) by Ridley Scott.

I don't understand the negeative reviews. I loved everything about this movie. The cinematography, all the characters, the humour. It was a real treat.

R. Crow is not my favorite actor but I found that he was natural in this movie and seemed to be having fun. A. Finney at his best considering in age and health. All in all a believable story with love for the family and finding true love.

Exactly the kind of film you want to see to escape to a beautiful place with interesting people.

Forget Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence! I was under the impression that this film was based on the book. Was a little disappointed. Enjoyed Albert Finney and the little boy, very genuine. Beautiful sceneries of Provence, a light romantic comedy.

| 8/10 | csigismondo@ - first review 17.11.2006 - age: 18-25 |
This movie's major achievement is to capture the feeling of the French countryside in all its natural scope and beauty. There's a real feel for the conflict of the characters - certainly in the clash of cultures with the high-powered stock broker and the older French wine country field worker, for example. The outcome is predictable, therefore not a ten. Still, a Great film.

Screen play uses concepts from the book but the story line differs widely. Still it is a good flik but don't count on it mirroring the book.

It was awful.. Painfully slow and boring. Script was awful. A must miss. Not even a rental!

I loved this film, lovely scenery, what a nice change to see Russell in something light hearted. I get the feeling that everyone had a good time during production. A couple of hours of pure escapism. I shall be viewing again, and buying the DVD.

If you are an intelligent person! Not a person with an attention span of few seconds unless stimulated by meaningless killing, rape, etc... This a must see exceptional entertainment!!

Like a boutique wine, this is a nice little movie, funny and touching. It has delicious performances, including great chemistry between Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard. Provence provides a perfect subject for Ridley Scott's talent for the visual.
| 7/10 | faye@ - first review 13.11.2006 - age: 50+ |
Charming, light-hearted, beautifully photographed and superlatively acted, as always, by Crowe. He can say more with a single look than any other current actor with a full wordy script. The supporting cast is a delight and Marion Cotillard is sexy, feisty and unaftraid to go toe to toe with Crowe. Not an Oscar contender but great escapism. Forget grouching critics and go revel in the golden Provencal light and atmosphere.

Russell Crowe can be a very funny, sensitive actor & not rough & tumble all the time. A very heartwarming story.
| 8/10 | dmd45@ - 5 reviews 12.11.2006 - age: 50+ |
Good movie with a solid stroyline, fantastic scenery and good acting on the whole. Nice to see Russell Crowe do something other than kill everything in sight or babble on about pink elephants incessantly to himself. Reminded me of a male version of Under the Tuscan Sun but from a different perspective. Funny supporting cast and very well shot. Worth the $$ evening or matinee.

I went to see this film today, on the basis of the rave reviews I read here. I found this film utterly boring. The panoramic views of the French countryside were the only redeeming qualities in this film. The storyline was interesting enough, but the characters were played by uninteresting actors who gave mediocre performances. Prospective viewers should be aware that the French chateau and vineyard is a gloomy-looking venue and the constant shift back and forth from Crowe's workplace in the London stock market is a distraction. Crowe gave a half-decent performance but the other characters were completely mis-cast. Also, I found the soundtrack selection to be at complete odds with the theme and location of this disappointing film.

A perfect "feel good" movie! It was charming, light and refreshing. Perfect movie for a quiet night out. Loved it!

I sat through it for over an hour and I couldnt take another minute of the very amateur strained dialogue. I walked out. It went on and on nowhere. Very very bad, Dont waste your money on this one. Russell Crowe is only in it for the money here. BIG waste of time and parking..

What a wonderful experience to sit and enjoy this movie. It was indeed like a glass of fine wine. It was better then I had expected it to be and that is a treat! The music was delightful and the scenery makes me want to buy a plane ticket. I love that they have true ethnic characters. A bit of romance and light comedy but more thought provoking to make one look at the importance in ones life. I adored the old father. What a hoot! Would love to know where they dug him up from.

Very entertaining and well written screenplay with terrific casting and beautiful cinematography. This movie does more to promote wine, France and beautiful women than a million commercials.

Very well crafted movie with an excellent script delivered by excellent and performances by the cast. Crowe was a gladiator and lovable scoundrel. Editing is awesome and particularly well integrated sound track. Would have given it a 10 but there is still a few weeks left in the year and I only give out one a year.

Enjoyed it then came home to have a good glass of wine. You'll understand if you see it. Light storey but complex enough to make it work and scenery is very good. Some of the others characters make the movie along with Crow.

What is up with the negative reviews? People's brains must have melted with all those Saw movies. This movie is simply fab. Great scenery, great chemistry, great story point period.
