A slow pace one but yet somewhat interesting to me that is. Nice to see Defoe and Neill again, they look great.

Enjoyed. A lil off the beaten path for a movie with such a title. Would've appreciated a bit more backstory on Dafoe's character, however, was appreciative that it didn't sink into the obligatory romance that seems to needlessly permeate every Hollywood movie it seems. Some subtle undertones were nicer. Some research on the subject beforehand may have enhanced my view of film. Google tasmanian tiger for an overview. And yes cinematography was awesome!

Forget the "slow pace" review talk... the incredible, Tasmanian landscape takes center stage, in this one... I'm not much of a sneak preview, novel reader, so I don't come to many movies with preconceived expectations... Dafoe is an overlooked actor, so it's always nice to see him... I'm not going to spill any of the plot, there's too much of that stuff available, if you go looking for it. Sure it's got some flaws, but again, the cinematography, Dafoe & the kids are worth the trip, alone...

The last time I watched a movie that was adapted from a Julia Leigh book, it was the befuddling Sleeping Beauty (2011), an outrageous fart piece that beggars belief. Thankfully, this one is more accessible. A published critique was that it "maintains an intriguing ambience, but general auds may feel they're not given enough info about the protag to become fully immersed in his journey toward redemption." The movie to me seems like it's missing a few scenes that would've made this a much more satisfying watch. Throughout the show, one waits for a great movie to happen but it never comes.

Don't let these reviews, which dwell on the slow pace, fool you: there are some really thrilling sequences. The action sneaks up on you like a hunter.

Enjoyed the subtleties and the ability of the actors to "express" how they were feeling without necessarily saying anything. Amazing scenery and a very adept cast help this deftly plotted movie. Left with a few unanswered questions but life is often like that! A good film when you are in the mood to think.

What a treat it is to see Willem Dafoe in a lead role again. We don’t see enough of him on the big screen, probably because he is not a «pretty boy». Really not at all. He simply plays a human being. This actor who came on the screen with a blast in 1986 in Platoon remains one of the best of his generation. He is in my opinion the DeNiro of his generation. The Hunter is a film all in restraints whether it is: in the deep motivations of Dafoe’s character; in the behind the scenes machiavellic manoeuvres of big Capital, from the pharmaceutical and forestry industries; in this little known land of Tasmania with its breathtaking vistas; in the faith of endangered species, in this case the Tasmanian Tiger; in this family of sensitive orphans and their enigmatic mother besides whom Dafoe stands as Allan Ladd in Shane. We leave the theatre haunted by this resignation: that it is sometimes better to let it die. One thing is certain that you will never forget the Tasmanian Tiger.

Good movie, slow but interesting story. Willem Dafoe is one of my favorite actors, he does a great job. Great cinematography. The little girl and the boy did great job too, I loved the way they performed, very professional.

A slow paced, well acted by William Dafoe and the kids. The cinematography of Tasmania landscapes were beautiful especially the wooded areas.

Worth a watch if you're a Dafoe fan. He plays his part with the usual sparcity, but there are one or two very moving scenes from him. Tasmania looks beautiful. Not an action film at all, good story and a slow build up to a fine ending. Nice support my Neill and others. You will leave the cinema thinking about this films plot and its characters actions and motivations for a while hopefully.

This movie is excellent. However, if you were expecting an action movie where Wilem Dafoe goes hunting and murders a bunch of people you will be very disappointed. (Similar to movies like : Drive, Super, The Grey) This is a slow paced movie that takes its time and actually is quite emotional at times.
