This was a girl's night out with my two friends and all our daughters of 7 years old. We all had a blast! This was a hilarious, fun and very enjoyable movie! I loved the role that Julie Andrews played... she was terrific, as always!

To start with, if you are under the age of 12 this review does not concern you at all. You are allowed to see the movie without me judging you. Now for the rest of you, who plan to bring your date to see this movie all I have to say is... Have pity on us!!! Is it me but did this movie really deserve a sequel? Wasn't The Princess Diaries just a very average movie? I know Disney loves their sequels see Aladdin 2 or 3 or even Lion King 2 and 1 ½ but Princess Diaries? I can understand that the movie is the dream of every girl to become one day out of Blue princess... but come on a sequel? I went to the première last night, because I never say no to a free movie... and well I was just happy to see Julie Andrews. One of the few reasons to see the movie is you get to see Ms Andrews sing... well it is true it is just a short song and rudely cut with a duo with actress Raven (who has a cameo in the movie) what was Disney thinking? Don't you think Julie Andrews deserve a whole song? I have no complaints with Anne Hathaway, that girl really understands how to be clumsy and silly at the same time. The bigger problem I find is the direction, we can thank Garry Marshall on that. Yes he's the director behind Pretty Woman... but he's also the director behind Raising Helen and Runaway Bride. Needless to say the sequel does not bring much to it's precedent movie actually I find that it only diminishes the charm the original movie had which unfortunately we were lucky not to see this much during this summer time (see Spider-Man 2 and Shrek 2 for evidence) I have to admit I was happy when the movie was over, but teenage girls or fans of the original movie should be content with a non-satisfying sequel.

If you liked the first one, the second one is better. There are twists you might not excpect and some you would, but this is a Disney movie and a GREAT one. Go see it, go laugh, relax and just have a great ol' time.

I brought my daughter to see this movie. I think I enjoyed it more than she did. I love romantic endings, many many funny parts, and there are kiddie parts to not keep those lilttle ones too bored! It's a good movie.
| 7/10 | nurse21_99@ - first review 25.9.2004 - age: 26-35 |
It was ok I guess... the first one was obviously better. It was defenetly way too fairy-tellish but after all, it is a kid's movie. It was still sweet as a movie but better waiting and renting it...
| 7/10 | azn_princess_89@ - 11 reviews 21.9.2004 - age: 13-17 |
Ok... the first half of this movie was constant cliches and repetitive jokes from previous Disney movies. It was so bad that it was good (if you know what I mean) I couldn't stop laughing. The movie warmed up by the second half and you actually started to believe in some of the characters. If you are looking for a fluffy romance that will leave you smiling, this is the movie for you.

I really enjoyed the movie, I'm a sucker for romance. The interaction with the kids in the sleep over and the orphanage was great. I love Julie Andrews the woman is amazing and still looks like the first time I saw her, her grace poise and talent is very royal.
| 8/10 | dgibbons727@ - first review 16.9.2004 - age: 50+ |
To be fair grown ups would not enjoy this movie like they did on the first one, this sequel was ok more for the younger crowd as intended, nothing unique but still an enjoyable to watch I'm mixed on this film pretty sure anyone under 16 would enjoy it.

The first one was definitely better but this one has its moments. The first 45 minutes come off really childish with bad attempts at slapstick humour, but it still has the sweet loveable parts you love from the first movie. Love the outfits.

When I first saw the preview of The Princess Dairies 2:Royal Engagement, I thought that it would probably be a pretty good movie seeing as I had already seen and liked the first one. That was where I was wrong. In actuality some of the funnier things happen to be in the preview. The movie follows the plot that Princess Mia has to get married or else she cant be queen. Oviously there has to be someone trying to take the crown from her and to be honest the movie was all too predictable. Though the movie was lighthearted I would never pay to see it again. I would not reccomend seeing it unless you see it for free because if you pay to see it you may find it wasnt what you expected and you may find yourself regretting that you spent your money to see it.

The first movie was much much better... Really cheesy, kind of painful to watch. Spend your time elsewhere!!!
| 4/10 | reena123@ - first review 28.8.2004 - age: 18-25 |
This movie was a lot like the first, the same magic. The plot is well-thought-out, interesting and funny. Thought I did not think Anne Hathaway was as convincing in this movie as the first one, she did her part justice. The other actors and actresses were marvelous and easy to relate to. Overall, this movie was charming and 'perfect', jus like we have grown to expect from Disney movies. =)
