A weak entry into the franchise, The movie was badly directed and poorly edited, with the action scenes coming across like rock videos at times, both disjointed and visually jarring, so much so as to be virtually unwatchable at times. There was no real plot, only linkages between action scenes, of which there were many. The film might have gotten away with that if the action had been done better. The plot was simple, but uninteresting. The girls were almost superfluous. You couldn't buy into the villain as a villain at all. Zero presence or charisma. The worst part of it was that any pretense of charm or cool went out the window, and Craig played Bond as a wooden, dour and robotic character. He showed up well in the previous film because it was so well written, but in this movie he just doesn't come across as Bond at all, and I'm a huge fan of the franchise. Makes me wsih that Brosnan had had a chance at a decent script, because for me in this movie Craig just wasn't cutting it. As an straightforward action movie it would be a mediocre film in the theatres. As a Bond movie it was hugely disappointing, and utterly absent of the things that have come to make the Bond films so popular. The charm, the humour, and the suave characters just weren't there. Bottom line, wait for it as a rental.
