This is truly a great film. It is well deserving of its academy awards including best picture and best actor. The screen play was excellent and the acting was top notch. This is a very believable period piece. A must see.

It was OK, all that hype about how great it was well to put it mildly nothing really great about it. Yes Colin did and awesome job playing the role but come on.

Although I expected more from it, it was a great movie with excellent acting.

Excellent movie, pretty well acting, a worth see.

Well deserving of its academy award wins including for best picture and best actor. I'm not usually big on period pieces, but this movie rose far above that. Screenplay was top notch and brought to life by the excellent cast.

The story final picks up steam about 30 minutes before it ends. The story is an interesting one and well acted but it does not deserve the hardware it has received. I had them with me I would have popped 2 red bulls just to stay awake. Next time I will stay at home and watch my grass grow.

It's not only a serious and dramatic history picture, it's also a comedic story between two dynamic characters that perform their top performances of their careers. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush justify this movie.
| 7/10 | christensonj_filmcritic@ - 96 reviews 12.5.2011 - age: 13-17 |
Great story that happens to be true and is well directed. Acting, casting, costumes, the great panoramic shots were all excellent. Colin Firth was amazing and Geoffrey Rush was great as usual.
| 9/10 | mwhal@ - 102 reviews 12.5.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Fantastic. Never though I'd feel sympathy for a royal character, but you really get behind Firth from the start. Delightful, moving, and surprisingly witty. Great movie!

Not only a true story but all the actors were amazing. Held my attention the whole way through.

Good movie but a little overrated... Still, worth seeing...

I was watching this movie on my laptop and it took me about 4 days to watch it to the end. Don't understand why is it so big, it's boring, there's good acting yes, it might be emotional for many people sure, but the storyline is so poor.

Great story, moving and very well-acted. Everyone should see this movie at least once.

Left me speechless. Got me to brush up on modern history, while finally giving Colin Firth the recognition he deserves!
| 9/10 | elizabethwoyce@ - 38 reviews 10.4.2011 - age: 26-35 |
This Movie is Over ratted... Very slow, an Interesting story, but not that important to actually take a Oscar award on... I guess the best rating for it is a 7/10 since it kept me interested, but still I can't see why it took an award... Worth to watch once out of curiosity of the reason it took the award... but not again.

Wonderful! This movie was stunningly shot, the acting was magnificent, and the story was beautiful. What more could you ask for from a movie experience?

An absolute masterpiece! I am disfluent and I used to have quite a prominent stutter when I was younger. So I am really happy to see that this movie is opening the eyes of people who can not understand how difficult is to go through those problems day to day.
| 10/10 | iankerr2010@ - 2 reviews 2.4.2011 - age: 13-17 |
I love history so was enchanted: but secondly enjoyed the profound acting skills of the leads - subtle but superb... and endearing. But I did come away telling my friends "not for everyone." It was a movie of class and dignity and I was tempted to call it a masterpiece but not sure how that qualifies; did not think it could be called "must see" or "don't miss" because it isn't for everyone... so "worth seeing" qualifies... but for many reasons it is more than a "good" movie.

Good solid movie. Extremely well acted and had a very 'real' feel to it.

Colin Firth has played a stammerer twice before in his acting career. This role, as a highly moral King to be- was made for him. He does deliver an OSCAR winning performance. I am so happy he won -It was truly deserved! The whole cast was brilliant!

I loved it, it would be appropriate for all ages. The story was great. The cast was amazing, and did great! It was a very emotional movie, and inspiring.

It's such a great movie. A terrific cast, Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush. They all do so well in the roles they play. They bring history to life again. Grand! If you haven't seen it, go see it before it's too late!

A pleasant surprise... wasn't sure what to expect but I really liked this movie. Great acting all around... they should have all won Oscars!
| 9/10 | sedulous@ - 3 reviews 19.3.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Loved it. Although I would suggest you to watch it in DVD with subtitle, because plot and detailed speech lines are really important in this movie. Since there's not so much action movie like special effects, you really don't need to watch it in theatre.
| 10/10 | tengzi-wu@ - 7 reviews 19.3.2011 - age: 13-17 |
I'm really surprised to see so many good reviews. It's good actiong but the action sucks. It's so boring!!!
| 2/10 | mbridea@ - 5 reviews 16.3.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Absolutely worth the money. Amazing acting and lots of hidden history gems...
| 9/10 | bobjanie@ - 18 reviews 15.3.2011 - age: 36-49 |
I don't consider it a masterpiece because I save that for a film that has great panoramic views and landscapes, great music, and something that makes it spectacularly amazing. This tells us a true and simple story that has nothing spectacular about it, but has lots of human values and determination envolved at a turning point of our History. Facts are performed with great art and emotion, and the direction is fabulous, with much care on the wardrobe and on the likeliness of the caracters, still so close to our time. I think that the therapist and the Queen mother should win oscars for the supporting actor and actress too. Marvellous document!

I'm surprised by all the awards and all the positive reviews, and not just from the geriatric population (no offense) To be honest, the movie had good acting, but the storyline was was so boring. I mean, great for his struggle and his triumph but honestly for all the hype, this movie was much ado about nothing. Does this particular King even have any significant role in the greater history of the world? I don't sleep through many films, and I can enjoy quite a breadth of them, but this was seriously a letdown.

I saw the king's speech and it wasn't as good as I thought it whould be, but it was still very good.

I’m so glad I finally got around to seeing this movie in the theater. It’s a totally entertaining film from start to finish. A great story supported by an outstanding cast. Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth are terrific. It truly is a must see film.
| 9/10 | bradshawscott@ - 100 reviews 13.3.2011 - age: 26-35 |
I like history based movies and I can appreciate good acting but with a story line and directing as boring as this one I had to walk out of the movie an hour in just so I would not fall asleep snoring and disturb the people beside me. You have to give a movie some action or something to keep you interested. It was a painful movie to watch.
