Another touching family movie. This one really brings a smile to your face as well, but it has enough humour in it that is actually funny and not too cheesy. The acting is really good for almost all characters, and the story is very inspiring. I love the 'twenty seconds of courage' idea! This movie does have some swearing, and a lot of adults talking about money, so I'll put that as my only warning if you wish to bring really young children. But overall, worth seeing. Enjoy! :)

A very touching story. Great for the whole family even though some parts are sad. Great cast, Maggie Elizabeth Jones is sooo adorable and a fabulous actor. I can't believe it's based on a true story.

This movie is touching and very interesting, I loved it.

A good story. I personally love animals and I think this is a very emotional movie about the animals; especially the tiger.
| 8/10 | jiayinicecream@ - 6 reviews 4.4.2012 - age: 1-12 |
Just a wonderful movie! So authentic and real feeling... great acting, a real nice mix of characters and emotion and of course, beautiful animals! If you need to sit back and relax, this great feel-good movie is perfect for you and your whole family!

Great for the whole family! Took my 11 daughter and she loved it.

This was So good! Many lessons I learned, a few quotes I remembered. Just great in overall, almost anyone would enjoy it!

A very good family movie, with a excellent script and plot. Well rounded characters.
| 9/10 | electricsux@ - 3 reviews 11.3.2012 - age: 36-49 |
This was not a bad movie - but it wasn't fantastic either. Scarlett Johansson seems to have only about 3 different expressions in this film. Matt Damon is better. Definitely a movie to share with kids.

Good family movie, the zoo idea was cute but I'm not so sure it was great.
| 6/10 | lamarks@ - 10 reviews 8.3.2012 - age: 36-49 |
We bought a zoo was an amazing movie, whether you 5 or 45 you'll be interested during the entire movie. If you go with children, the movie will keep them interested because of the animals and it has a funny, interesting, sweet and sad storyline that is shown the entire movie.

A real feel good movie - perfect for families - has a nice touch to it - feels like you are in the movie.

Such a lovely and refreshing story in a different perspective that is.
| 7/10 | shazjoao@ - 1748 reviews 17.2.2012 |
What a lovely movie! I was much impressed by Matt Damon's ability to play such a completely different role. This is likewise for Scarlett Johansson who delivered a very convincing acting performance. Lovely!

I took my granddaughter to see the movie. We enjoyed it very much and would recommend it anytime. I would however prefer that they toned down the language. It was the only thing that ruined the movie. We try to teach our children to be respectful and well mannered and this language does nothing to help us along the way.

We Bought a Zoo is awesome, but it's also pretty sad when one of the tigers die!

Would be better if Chris Rock spoke as the zebra in it.

The story and acting were excellent, but why did it have to have all the foul language and drinking? This would have made a great G rated movie! I would have given it a 10 if the negative elements hadn't been there. Those weren't essential to the plot at all.

This movie sends a very bad message: saying that you do not need any real experience in order to run a zoo, you just need some heart? WTF kind of bull crap is that? They say this because zookeepers usually do not take good care of the animals and let their dead corpse lay in the pen for days without getting cleaned up! Boycott this film if you care about animals...

Very nice movie about a familly trying to cope with a great loss while moving forward by doing something unusual.

I love this movie, we went with my great grandma's birthday, she loved it.
| 8/10 | reyleamedeiros9@ - first review 21.1.2012 - age: 18-25 |
Offensive language. A movie intended for families should not have such language. It does nothing to add to the entertainment. Why not leave it out?

A really good family drama with a great performance by Matt Damon.

Nice movie, I like the challenge that main actor had to be a good dad. Good job and sweet to go see with girlfriend.
| 9/10 | manelfern@ - 23 reviews 17.1.2012 - age: 36-49 |
I LOVED this movie. I went to see it with my dad and it was great. It's a movie that would appeal to a large audience and isn't all about the animals which I was happy about, it's also about the people. The actors were amazing Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Colin Ford was awesome and very cute, Maggie Elizabeth Jones is adorable, and Thomas Haden Church. It's a really touching story and even though some parts are sad it ends up to be a very happy story and I can't explain to you how much I enjoyed it. Best movie I've ever seen. GO SEE IT!!!

It's nice movie. It learn us, don't stay in your past life (something in your life) and see the future life. Accept all news, new city, new people. It's hard to have a new life but you should [...] believe and [...] think only [of] positive things. One day, you will find again the peace, and the stability in your life. You will find the treasure.

It's a well done movie. I was not expecting that much but I was quiet surprise about this film. If you like a touching drama with humour here and there, this could might be for you. The story line is very touching, and Matt Damon is great in this one.

| 10/10 | camjo509@ - 11 reviews 15.1.2012 - age: 50+ |
Just saw this movie. Not much action... mostly a talking type film, dealing with human emotions, relationships, etc. Well done for the type of movie it is. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'm so used to fast-action, 3-D, type films, that to see a film that deals with human beings and their relationships to each other seems almost unusual, or slow, or strange, or like there is something missing... when all it is is a down-to-earth movie about humans. A nice balance against the big blockbusters out there.

Such a amazing movie! I would definitely see it again.
| 10/10 | bella.jazz@ - first review 14.1.2012 - age: 1-12 |
Based on reviews I was expecting to be wowed. It is a heartwarming story, but seemed to be lacking something. Perhaps if it had been truer to the real story where the wife was still alive when they bought the zoo. However, the acting was quite good and I enjoyed it for the most part, I just wasn't blown away.
| 6/10 | rj100@ - first review 14.1.2012 - age: 50+ |
Perhaps my expectations were too high because of the Cameron Crowe factor - but I found there were too many stories that didn't work - such as the relationship arc between the father and son - they needed another young actor of Patrick Fugit's calibre (fabulous in Almost Famous) to make this movie feel less disjointed. Definitely wait for the dvd time. I was shocked at the rating here.
| 6/10 | ysky60@ - 2 reviews 14.1.2012 - age: 50+ |
We went with the expectation we'd see more zoo stuff, not so much family drama. The very last scene was a puzzling add-on that maybe should have been inserted before the zoo opening so the movie could end on a high note.
| 7/10 | slbm@ - first review 13.1.2012 - age: 50+ |
Not sure which demographics you were playing for. It's too old for children yet silly for adults. Nice scenes with the animals.
| 6/10 | macandpatc@ - 2 reviews 13.1.2012 - age: 50+ |
This was a beautiful movie. The whole family loved it. Not everything needs to be violent and oversexed. Sometimes it's nice to just stop and smell the flowers.
| 9/10 | kim4844@ - 3 reviews 13.1.2012 - age: 36-49 |
I thought the movie was corny and Elle Fanning was annoying with her constant smile. The whole thing was predictable and the complete turn around of the son was unrealistic. I cannot believe this movie got such high ratings. A total disappointment.
| 5/10 | jomarksfield@ - 2 reviews 11.1.2012 |
It is a perfect movie that show the bonding of a family after the death of a mother and a wife. How the zoo brings out the feelings on how to communicate regarding their feeling. It is absolutely a must see.

I went to watch this movie with high expectation coz the rates are high... but it turns out that I'm pretty disappointed. Not comedy, not funny, not worthy.

Well crafted movie. It is correct in every choice specially liking more of people than animals. Matt Damon is brilliant. It is an adaptation of a true story. For one thing it all happened in Britain. And the wife was alive when they bought the zoo. Sadly she did not make to the inspection day. One word about Elle Fanning, I've seen 3 movies with her in a little more than a year and she is good.
