It shows how poorly the whole intelligence gathering business is handled in the US. In the UK anyone deliberately divulging the name of a MI5 or MI6 officer is guilty of treason. The men in the Bush White house who released the name of Valerie Palm as a CIA operative really should not have been tried or fined and certainly not pardoned. The appropriate punishment would have been to have a date with the hangman.
