This was not as great as the first, but it sure is something with Michael Caine and The Rock.

I expected to enjoy this movie more maybe all the movie magic was in the 3d one but the young girl was to mouthy and there was no chemistry amongst the actors and actresses. To short to tell a proper tale.

Went with my 20 year old and my 10 year old and we all liked it and laughted a lot. Good movie to go see.

Better than I thought it would be. Indiana Jones meets Jurrasic park. My 12 yr old son thought it was worth a 7.5 and so did I. I would have felt cheap giving it a 7 so we went high for an 8/10. The Rock comes in with a usual WWE type performance but it was entertaining even if predictable. Good for pre teens.

The action was and yes at times over the top, but reading the title of the movie you must think some or most of it will over the top. I highly recommend this movie. Good laughs lots of action. A great movie for the family. To the one who found it unbelievable and boring. You need to step back and see the movie for what it is. It's a fantasy movie so go with it!!

Went with the kids and found this to be very funny. There are a couple of 3D parts that actually made me "move out of the way" worth seeing...

I actually enjoyed this movie it was a fun one to see. A well done sequel so to speak.

All in all a worthwhile effort. The visuals are nice, the story is decent but it still misses something to make it great.

Meh. It could have been better. I've seen much better, and Josh Hutcherson has done much better movies too (i. e. Hunger games) it was really fast, too fast. One thing after another it was really fast. But it was still ok... I guess.

This is a great family movie. Not really something that I would see again but if you liked the "Journey to The Center of the Earth" you'll enjoy this even more.

About 10 minutes into this movie I found myself asking myself, " Did they deliberately set out to make a bad movie? " Because if they had done so, they would have accomplished it in spades. Wooden actors, poor writing, etc. [...] You see the girl carrying a backpack with a eukelele sticking out, so you figure at some point someone is going to sing. But, oh no, why did it have to be Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)? I found out why at the end of the movie: he was the executive producer. The helicopter pilot character is mildly amusing. Best of a bad lot. Take the kids, they might enjoy. But this movie is not good, even if you get in for free.

Journey 2 was a fun family movie. It's a movie to go see if you like comedies and sci-fi you'll like this movie. I give it 10/10.

Well the start of it was fast paced and the dialogue was somewhat tolerable but I found that throughout the movie it got better and after a while I liked it. All in all it was okay.

When it’s over, this film was so much fun. This sequel to Journey to the Centre of the Earth (2008) has Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and his stepfather, Hank (Johnson), venturing to an uncharted island in search of Sean’s missing grandfather (Michael Caine) Yes, it's over the top and much of it is unbelievable, but with a good cast and a straightforward storyline, the fun comes natural and enjoyable. It's a great family film, because there's plenty of eye candy for the kids and enough silly humour to keep the adults interested, especially between Johnson and Caine. It’s overdosed with CGI and, of course, 3D effects which keeps the action exciting and fresh. There are some interesting surprises throughout the film including a musical number sung by Dwayne Johnson with a ukulele. That was sweet and unexpected. Plus, Mother Nature offers a new twist to the animal kingdom on this mythical island. Children will marvel at the animals and adults will appreciate how those animals are integrated into the storyline. My favourite was definitely the miniature elephants. They were absolutely adorable. Can I have one? Rounding out the supporting cast are Vanessa Hudgens as Sean's love interest, and Luis Guzman as the well casted comic relief.

I liked this movie. It used special effects to make it a movie worth seeing. The actors, and the action are very good. It's a good movie to take the kids to see.

This is dreadful. Dialogue is so weak and boring. No ones talks like that. This is absolutely unbearable. Wouldn't recommend it even on dvd.

I loved this movie! Better than the first! Fast-paced, funny, heart-racing and a fun family adventure film! Can't wait for the 3rd!

What a waste of good film. I could of made a better flic myself. Michael Caine is witless and useless in this sad, pitiful, sorry script.

Mildly entertaining if you're a teenie bopper. Otherwise, stay away from this Hollywood drivel.

Not bad, it was enjoyable, but I noticed a few fails. How could someone survive under water for that long? How come his dad was stupid enough to actually pay for a flight that was not worth a search since he was positively sure there was no island (I wouldn't have paid for this if I were his son) And I also noticed how everything was coincidental. They were being attacked by a lizard suddenly granpa to the rescue. Perhaps the bees showed up at the right time. What how about that electricity they suddenly needed to power up that submarine. But overall it had some good laughs and effects looked good but in about a few years, we'll probably look back at this saying what the hell did I just watch?

Very good movie, I enjoyed the 3D, but I must say that I'm taking off a point because the begging was to "cliche". It all happened to fast, like really too fast... but without that, everything was perfect and fun :P must watch (3.

It's exactly what you should expect to see in a sequel... good effects... average storyline... fair acting and good for the whole family. Hard to find a movie that a 7 year old, 11 year old and 2 adults can all sit through and either enjoy or at least get some laughs and "oh my" from everyone... this one did.

There are times when the plot in a movie takes a back seat to the action. For "Journey 2" the plot didn't even get in the car. Despite my rating of 5, I enjoyed this movie; It was so, so, so bad that it was fun. I found myself laughing at the fact that it was so terrible. The acting was good for what was directed and written, although I felt everyone was very 1 dimensional. Why was Caines character immediately hostile and [...] to Johnsons character? Why didn't they just ride the bee's right off the bat. They ran into them well before they had to use them to climb the mountain. Even with a bag of air, no one could last under water that long and at 100 feet down. Hell, how many people can get down to 100 feet without special training. While I realize that this is a fantasy movie, there were so many details that just made me wince. It made me sad inside to know that Caine's 62 years of acting experience were wasted on this turkey.

Not much of a film. It lacked the creativity of the first movie. I was left to wonder why the main character became such a jerk after the events of the first film. Brendan Fraser is sorely missed.

I saw this with my 10 year old son. He liked it a lot more than I did. I thought it was pretty average, mindless fun. Not nearly as good as the first movie, but then again, how many sequels really are?
| 6/10 | gman@ - 37 reviews 14.3.2012 - age: 50+ |
Does not live up to the promotional ads that say it's going to be great. Poor story line, poor editing, not a great journey at all. The performances of the only 2 actors who were any good in it -- Michael Caine and Josh Hutcherson -- were marred by the lousy camera work and editing. Too bad! Should have been really fun.

This film represents our appetite for dazzling graphics and artificial adventure. The art of acting is being threaten by our need for processed garbage. Though I was entertained, I was disappointed the film industry has come to this sort of production.

First movie I have seen in IMAX, and I was beyond impressed. I thought the characters played their roles great, the cast members went well together, and there was non-stop action from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment.
