It's not everyones cup of tea this movie that is. One of those movies that you see later down on your list perhaps. It was not too bad really. Kinda cute in everyway.

A little silly and very slow. Bring your pillow and blanket with you. No Oscars here even with talents of Bill Murray and Bruce Willis.

I don't think that this film is everybody's cup of whatever. I loved it the quirky plot and the interesting way of (almost) making the choice of music part of the action. Very unusual plot, nice acting of the young kids the film was able to portray the 60th realistically. For such a "little" film it must have been a coup to get such well known actors. I gave it only a seven because I just do not think that other viewers would like it as much. Otherwise I would have given a 8 1/2.

A decidedly different type of movie about 2 young kids running away to be together. Very quirky, funny at times, well acted, and well-paced. Everything and everybody seem a bit strange but in a fun kind of way. If you like the trailer for this movie then you will enjoy this weird but charming film.

Brillant, Funny, touching. It makes you want to fall in love. And the soundtrack is great too.

I've not seen many such brilliant original, unique movies because not many have been made, I guess in part due to our mostly linear thinking society. This one is way up there with the best, a true "thinking outside of the box, free-spirited trip". A gift to every one of us I feel, who want to reach down to the spontaneous kid who still lives in us all and give him or her a hand up and a shove to the forefront. Worse things could happen right? So yes I highly recommend it but if you go see it for the big-name stars you'll be disappointed because the movie belongs to those kids. They steal the show as rightly they should. Enjoy!

Dear God, went with 8 friends, only myself and my gf stayed till the end because she was asleep, absolute torture to watch this annoying movie, avoid it like the plague!

Pleasantly surprise that it's a good film. Enjoyed the storylines, settings, acting, and the 70's music. It's different and unique compared to some of the more boring mainstream films out there.

Definitely a treasure. If you are looking for a different and truly entertaining film, you must see Moonrise Kingdom.

Well, this is without a doubt a quirky and whimsical film that has moments of crazy humour and even a deep sadness and disturbance running through it. The film is perhaps too staged, but perhaps that was the intent. Like the apartments in Rear Window (Hitchcock), the director took exceptional care to create the different sets, starting with the wonderful way he did the rooms of the house at the very beginning of the film. I found that the attempt to create a more sixties feel with the sixties kind of film, bothered me from the start - it dulled the colours and took away alot of sharpness and yes, this was the intent, but it bugged me. The closeups were good. The cinematography was wonderful and almost every frame could have been a photograph of exceptional quality. The craziness and quirkiness was interesting and fun yet. It felt too strained for the most part - too stiff. Overall, I probably would have to see it again to really know what I really think about it - strange, yet this was a strange and zany kind of a flick.

Great humor, both slapstick and subtle. Wonderful story line -- especially if you come from a scouting background. Would agree with comments that Ed Norton and Bruce Willis are not essential actors for this movie, but the characters are good. The kids are the stars, though. I am going to see it for the second time tomorrow.

If you don't have nothing else to see and want something light, this is the one. Some moments of laugh but it is nothing special.

I am a big fan of the quirky-film genre, and this doesn't disappoint. It's a coming-of-age love story. Intelligent, funny, and quirky. Not to be missed for anyone a fan of Rushmore, Tenenbaums, or Life Aquatic.

Some of the best cameo roles for these talented actors in years. Love the scouting genre. I loved the coming of age story set in the sixties as well as the beauty of the setting. My favorite Wes Anderson movie yet and I own most of them. Big Wes Anderson fan.

Was glad it was the Tuesday deal night when we went as I didn't feel so bad paying to see it then. There were some moments in the movie that were fun, however, if I were at home watching on T. V. would probably have switched to another channel.

Wes anderson has done it again, amazing cinematography, and an all arounds goo and feel good movie. The script was hilarious and everything in the movie had so much detail and precision.

I love Wes Anderson's color and framing. Makes the movie visually wonderful. And the humor is so subtle you often start laughing well into the next scene. Reminiscent of The Life Aquatic in some scenes.

See it for Wes Anderson's unique characters. See it for the core pleasure of exploring the director's vision and mind. Same bracket as Darjeeling Limited and the Royal Tenebaums. You will not be disappointed. I love that he works with the same actors all the time -- love them all.

Charming. Sweet. Reality meets Fantasy. Storytelling at its best... it's like a tale from childhood memories but everything is remembered as being bigger, taller, scarier, etc. than it was, but that's what time and experience bring to the memories we hold on to and add on to over the years... I loved it :)

What a joy! I didn't particularly care for Anderson's previous films so I was hesitant to see this one but definitely glad I did. This is bound to become a favourite on everyone's list. The story is wonderful and draws you in immediately to this quirky community of wonderful characters. Everything is just a bit odd but not unbelievably so. The cast does a wonderful job as no one outshines another. All the performances are wonderful. If you are unfortunate and miss this in the theatres, buy, don't rent, the DVD. It's a keeper.

I found this movie puzzling. Neither very funny nor especially dramatic. It had some good actors who were wasted on nothing roles. The girl seemed miscast to me. She looked like either she had just competed in The Hunger Games or she was just on her way to compete. The boy was not a very good child actor. Some of the music score was interesting. The premise of this movie was done decades ago in a more charming movie "Melody". I'd love to see that film again.

Want to see something different? See this! If, like one reviewer, you are "... really hoping that this movie was going to be a "Stand by Me" sort of movie...", then this might be a little too 'smart' for you, too quirky, intelligent, and well made... Classic Wes Anderson.

I was really hoping that this movie was going to be a "Stand by Me " sort of movie with really good performances by the young actors, but it fell far short. It wasn't terribly funny, didn't tug on any heart strings and didn't even capture the 60's nostalgia very well. (Not to mention the weird soundtrack) I don't get why so many people have given it such a good rating.

I enjoyed this a lot. Quirky characters, odd situation, and love sort of congers all. I laughed and enjoyed but Royal Tennenbaums is better. Still, with the thin quality of movies this summer, go see this one.

An absolute gem of a movie - Wes Anderson makes every frame beautiful and unusual - I wanted to see the film again as soon as it was over, there were just too many wonderful details to see, I'm sure I missed some. Also, Benjamin Britten's music was a treasure!

While this movie is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, for me it was a near-perfect brew. Impossible to describe, "Moonrise Kingdom" is rather like Peter Pan meets Monty Python meets Adventures In Babysitting meets 24 Hours. Quirky, satirical, well-acted and beautifully filmed (many of the scenes have a Coen Bros feel to them), this is a good film for everyone who ever, as an adolescent, thought that the whole world was made up of simpletons and madmen.
