I can't believe this movie didn't make its money back, clearly a lack of 'stars' hurt its promotion and the title was meaningless to people who aren't hardcore sci-fi fans. But this movie has been trying to be made for nearly 100 years! This is the meta-movie from which almost Any sci-fi owes at least part of its origins. John Carter is like the Lord of the Rings is to the fantasy genre. The only thing I can say which made this a 9 rather than a 10 is that in typical Disney fashion, a movie which would have been absolutely INSanE as an AA or R production was slightly more funny and goofy than was strictly called for. Otherwise it was a total blast and I would gladly see it again and again.
