This is, for the most part, a quiet, gentle movie. The beauty of it is in the animation, where scenes of fields and rainfall are like delicately painted still lifes. There is a bit of drama in the movie, but it is not like a typical, frenetic American children's movie. The story revolves more around the tentative friendship between Arietty and Sean and the details of what it is to live in the Borrowers' world. Overall, a very beautiful but contemplative film.
