MUNICH is Spielberg at the top of his game. It is an only adult spy/assassination movie that is confronting and shocking when it comes down to the machinations of eliminating BLACK SEPTEMBER terrorists. Nothing goes according to plan amongst this Mossad assassin crew. The film tries to balance both points-of-view but the movie can be seen as a justification of Israeli national security. The film becomes interesting when in an ambigious manner members of this assassin crew are most likely eliminated by Israel themselves. MUNICH doesn't shy away from it's ugly violence and is a better film for it's convictions. ERIC BANA becomes a man on the run from Israel, looking over his shoulder in paranoia. The superior THE BAADER MEINHOFF COMPLEX is a good companion piece to MUNICH. These are the two definitive movies in recent times during these volatile years.
