A strange and compelling film. It was recommended to me, because initially I was reluctant to go. To see Banderas in something other than Hollywood fluff was interesting but the announced sadism was repelling. Finally, it isn’t as explicit as I might have feared. That’s a good thing. The story is somewhat unbelievable by pushing psychoanalytical sublimation to an incredible extreme. It is the unbelievability that ruined the experience for me.
