I agree with all the others who couldn't believe the critics disliked this movie. Thank God I didn't believe the reviews in my local paper and went to see it anyway. Very well acted (well, except for Eric Bana as the king, then again, I don't think he was given much to work with), especially Johansson and Portman. ESPECIALLY Portman, she was a revelation... to see her transformation from the impetuous coquette, to sly seductress, to half-mad, desperate woman willing to do anything (and I mean ANYTHING, won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, but yeah, a very icky, sick moment which was apparently true) to hold on to her crown, was really enthralling to see. The ending was great too (the very last freeze-frame shot), as it left you curious to go to the library and read up on Tudor and Elizabethan history and how the two eras were connected. Lastly, I have newfound respect for these two actresses, as you will too once you see the film.
