Ghost of Girlfriends Past is an updated story of redemption for past sins. Sort of a new take on the "Scrooge" story. Matthew McConaughey, plays a womanizing photographer. The guy is as smoothe as butter and he leaves a trail of broken hearts wherever he goes. He reluctantly comes home to attend his kid brother's wedding and that's where the story really takes off. Jennifer Garner as a past love has tons of chemistry with our boy Matt. Without revealing anymore tidbits, you'll just have to take my word that this is a very entertaining movie with lots of laughs and sexy Michael Douglas is in it too, so what else could you ask for. I thoroughly enjoyed this. A great date movie.

A refreshing twist on the Christmas carol theme, has some laughs, overall enjoyable.

A good movie. More of a "rent it" though. It was not exactly worth paying $5.00 to see... but still it was good. I liked the witty jokes and it made me laugh.

This movie was so bad!!! Don't go see it! It was a total waste of money! Me and my friends even walked out of the movie!! It was so disgusting and retarded!!

Good movie, definitely worth seeing. A little bit sexual, so if you don't like that stuff, then don't see it maybe, but got better at the end. I really enjoyed it. One of Matthew's better ones.

This movie is truly great even though I'm 16 I still loved it!!!

I hated it. It was the worst storyline and I couldnt tell enything that was happening.
| 1/10 | hahah_suck@ - first review 3.7.2009 - age: 18-25 |
I wasn't expecting this movie to be brilliant- just a cute romantic comedy. Even so, I was really disappointed. It had a few funny moments, but over all the jokes were overdone, and it all felt very forced. Wait until it airs on network TV- not worth renting.

If you like him and his macho style than you will love this movie. For once, the girls are good.

First and foremost, to everyone writing about how bad this movie is, let's sit back and have a think : it's a romantic comedy with Matthew McConaughey. He's typecast, so you should already know what you're getting into. If you thought it was going to be something completely different, you obviously didn't watch the previews. The movie was "okay". I say that because I actually enjoyed the story line. I liked the characters, and I liked the idea of what the movie wanted to get across. If they had chosen someone different than McConaughey, the movie probably would have been better. It's not that he was a poor actor for this movie, its that he just doesn't appeal to the 20-something female anymore. He's starting to look his age, and its only emphasized when its blown up on a huge theatre screen. If you are in the mood for a relaxing, girly, don't-need-to-think kind of afternoon movie, then I say definitely watch this one.

I thought this was a good movie. It had a good message and some funny moments. I'd say it was worth watching.

This movie had a lot more potential. McConaughey and Garner were good but they could only do so much with what they were given. Good production but plot & writing could have been better. Didn't like how McConaughey was supposed to be both a Ladies Killer & pathetic guy who couldn't maintain a relationship. Didn't seem to jive.

Okay. Could be much better. To big for me. I was scared.

Liked him-Matthew McConaughey, in Sahara and EdTV and had hoped he'd be pretty funny in this one. Well, he wasn't and just like some of his movies are good and some are bad, this was one where he shouldn't have been in it to begin with. 5 is all I'll give because of some comedy goodies but wait for the rental from your local outelt.

I enjoyed the movie. More of a chick flick but a good movie for men who play the field too much; might make them think twice or thrice. =D.

Every laugh was in the trailer, from gay pirate, to cake on the floor, to cutting off your favorite appendage! I don't even know if I would recommend renting it. I know you'll give this review the warning!! But truly all that I mentioned were in the trailer! Want a fun comedy? I rented "The Deal" with William Macy and Meg Ryan, I know Meg Ryan, but it was worth renting!

This movie was only "ok". While it was not an original story, it was somewhat enjoyable and the actors were pretty good. Besides... it's always easy to watch Matthew McConnaughey for 90 minutes. Possibly a rental if there is nothing else to select.

I really loved this movie. It's a great movie... funny and ROMANTIC! I loved it. I loved the part when the cake falls over and the bride to be screams... great movie.

I would give it a lower rating but my friend liked it so this balances us out. I hate chick-flicks so it was no surprise that I wasn't really moved by this movie but it did have it's funny moments and the ending was cute, predictable, but cute.
| 5/10 | gin_ee_us@ - 50 reviews 2.6.2009 - age: 18-25 |
Well, Matthew is funny but the rest of the movie is a total waste of time. It's not funny, nor does it give you that relief of the "happy ever after". It's just plain ridiculous. ANd I responded to someone else's post that it's a total copy of A Christmas Carol. Everyone. Save your money and go see that movie instead when it comes out later this year!
| 4/10 | belladee01@ - 118 reviews 31.5.2009 - age: 26-35 |
This movie is a total rip off of Charles Dickens "a Christmas carol" and is not only not funny, but has a storyline so bad, and jokes so awful, crude and stupid, the only people in the theater laughing are the second graders who aren't even old enough to watch the movie in the first place. And the only reason they're laughing is because the say dirty words in it. One of the worst movies ever, and comparable to movies such as Chevy Chases "funny money" and "attack of the killer tomatoes" (a movie from the seventies)

This was a pretty good movie. My husband laughed through it. Maybe it should be at least a pg-13 rating as there is some sexual content. I would watch it again though!

Its another example of actors doing a bad movie for income... Duh Hello did they even look at the script? I wouldn't recommend this movie. Wait for the dvd, and make sure you have extra time that you want to waste.
| 5/10 | gmd@ - 6 reviews 25.5.2009 - age: 50+ |
Quite funny actually. You kind of know what's gonna happen next but it's still worth the price of admission.

It wasn't that good... I just didn't like it... I got bored at like the 45th minute of the film.

I reccomend not seeing this movie. I'm thirteen years old, and me and my friends saw it and walked out of the movie. Its terrible and too much wrong stuff. Do not waste your money on it, its stupid and retarded. Definitely worst movie i've seen in a while. Dont waste your money and your time on it, like I did.

Very cute and funny!! If you're coming to see this movie it's because you know it's going to be predictable but you're looking for a a light-hearted romantic comedy! This movie will make you laugh and sometimes curse men haha! Matthew McConaughey is the main reason why I came to see this movie and he didn't disappoint me!! I just love him and he was perfect for this role! Jennifer also fits perfectly! And of course, Michael Douglas is just the cherry on the top! Go see it, it's a good time! Not recommended for young ones though, the whole movie is based on sexuality!

If I were a betting man, I would have this movie moved to Christmas, I am not sure why they decided to have this movie now, but overall it is a fun movie, cute take on a familar story and overall very good acting, if it was not for mathew this movie would have gone no where, but a fun chick flick.

Good movie, some funny moments. Ends with a good moral. Last fifteen seconds should have been deleted, they slightly ruined the whole effect of the movie.

After reading many poor reviews, I was hesitant to go see this movie. But after watching it, I was happy that I decided to go see it. McConaughey and Garner have great chemistry! This movie was well put together, and the ending leaves you very well satisfied! Everything comes together very nicely. I will purchase this movie when it comes out!

Romantic comedy is the genre of this film although it's advertised on this site as a drama. After an unnecessarily slow start, the plot gears up into a fun film constructed in a similar way to "A Xmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. Michael Douglas is truly believable as a Hugh Hefner-type and Matthew McConaghey is quite at home in the playboy role, yet another commitaphobic. It's worth the struggle to get past the first 20 minutes.
| 7/10 | hajwhitney@ - 54 reviews 16.5.2009 - age: 50+ |
It was a cute movie with a good message to which ever man cares to get it. However, it's time they put Matt into serious action or I am seriously getting sick of him playing macho lady picker roles!
| 6/10 | caraquetcarole@ - 15 reviews 16.5.2009 - age: 36-49 |
It had the potential of being a good comedy. McConaughey's acting was annoying and not very credible. Overall disappointing.

This movie really surprised me in terms of quality. I went to see it because my wife and daughter were keen to see the latest Matthew McConaughey movie, and it did look semi-interesting, so I was in. The plot, cast and writing were all great, far better than I expected from the cheesy title (especially after his last bomb), and I loved Michael Douglas's character. I have to admit, this was a completely enjoyable movie, even more so because there was some excellent dialogue, which has really been missing from many movies lately...

This movie was alright, McConaughey is always adorable but this movie he annoyed me, this was even to much of a chick flick for me. If you're with a bunch of girls might as well see it.
| 6/10 | smithince@ - 119 reviews 14.5.2009 - age: 18-25 |
McConaughey and Garner have some good chemistry. Garner's tears are fairly fake but otherwise, a good fun performance by both. You'll enjoy it. Sure it's predictable but there are some quirky characters that help make the movie special.

The plotline was so sweet! This movie made me cry. I think there were a bit too many sick jokes, though. It's a PG movie! However, I really enjoyed this movie and you should watch it if you get the chance!
