Every now and again something comes into your life that you will never forget. For me "Billy Elliot" is that something to store with my other treasures. Call it the meaning of life or what you will this is a film about humanity. In spite of the fact that a lot of the nuances will be lost on a North American audience this film aught to garner a hatfull of Oscar nominations. If there was one weak point, I thought the role of Billy`s father was a bit overplayed. I could not see a dour Durham miner breaking out in tears at the sight of his fully grown son dancing on a stage clad in feathers. A wry grin of grudging acceptance maybe, but not tears. Appart from that a truly splendid film. P. S. Don`t worry about the language, it is so normal these days you don`t even notice it.
