There's so much testosterone in this movie, by the time you walk out of it, you'll grow a beard, regardless of your sex.

Awesome movies best i seen in a long time. Everything is great about it. People need to realize it's a story and not a documentary.

First of all this is a movie... people make movies for people to enjoy... was troy real... NO... was matrix real? NO... but they were great movies... this one if you are a movie fan is very well done and should get the credit it deserves... no one has ever made a movie like this and it is [...] great... everyone should see this movie.

To sum it up... its garbage! The only thing great about the film is that it has been captured very well (visually stunning) However the biggest flaw with the film is the garbage dialogue & the depiction of the war. I think this movie would entertain the 15-20 yr olds. Some of the scenes are clear rip offs of such films like LOTR.

Watched on the Imax screen, very close to the simple comic it was taken from, with plenty of action and effects. A real Wow that was cool movie, but thin on story and plot.
| 9/10 | bellamyand@ - 2 reviews 15.3.2007 - age: 18-25 |
It was so cool. I would see it a second time, maybe a third time! Then probably buy it when it comes out on DVD or VHS!

Having read Stephen Pressfield's most excellent novel "Gates of Fire" which also deals with the battle of Thermopylae, and being a Greek who has been taught this story both by my parents and in Greek school history class, I've been anticipating the release of this movie ever since it was announced. Now, aside from the artistic liberties that were taken with depictions of grotesque mythical creatures and such, I found that it followed the history of that battle remarkably well for something coming out of Hollywood. And to all of our Persians friends who take issue with the movie saying that ancient Persia was in fact a very advanced, civilized society for it’s time, who first wrote a declaration of human rights, and was not at all like the brutes that were depicted - I do not dispute this at all. I quite agree with you in fact. But having said that, consider this: The USA might also be considered to be the most advanced civilization of OUR time, yet look at all the brutal, unjust wars they’ve waged and are currently involved in….. So what are you telling me? That great civilizations do not wage brutal wars for domination? Oh Please! No great empire that ever existed in history has ever arisen without first assezting its dominance over others - usually by force….. In antiquity, you had the Romans, the Mongols, The Persians, yes even the Greeks. Hey, we Greeks were guilty of this as well. After all, I also didn’t particularly like how WE were portrayed as ruthless barbarians in that other Hollywood epic “Troy”, but then again, if we sent 1000 warships their way….. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t so we could teach the Trojans poetry and architecture! More recently, you’ve had the French under Napoleon, The British, the Germans, the Japanese and yes, the Americans…. Great advanced countries all of them…. but they all did the same thing…and once in a while they come up against a small, but stubborn and determined foe who will not just give in, and instead gives them a proper a$$kicking such as the Vietnamese, the Afghans against the Russians, and yes the Spartans at Thermopylae. So the movie therefore is just somebody's vision of an event which actually happened 2500 years ago, and not anyone's attempt to purposefully discredit Persians or Iran.

Great film. Very entertaining. Persians will hate this movie, but someone has to be the bad guy. The battle scenes are the best ever produced in a film. Try not to get caught up in historical accuracy its historical fantasy and its great. See at theater.

300 Spartans… 1 000 000 Persian soldiers. One battle… okay I’m starting to sound like a director. The movie… was great… but the historical inaccuracies were, there were way too many. I myself am Persian and I know for a fact their “Shah” (king in Farcie) would never wear such repulsive clothing and they definitely not pierce all those holes all over their faces. It’s actually quite upsetting. And 300 men fighting… what? A million? That is not possible I don’t care if you fight in my hallway you can’t do that. It’s not humanly possible. And Iran wasn’t a nation big on slavery. And Greece isn’t that violent… after all that whole story is more or less a myth; A Greek fairy tale to make their loss to the Persian Empire seem inexistent. It’s a mask that they put on national history and people are so arrogant that the believe everything that comes out of Hollywood. But the battle scenes are matching LOTR 3 or Blade. The special effects are fabulous!!! All in all, I’d rate this movie… 8 out of ten because I’m a sucker for special effects and battle scenes.

The greatest heroic action film in the last 10 years. It is a must see for EVERY man on earth. I had trouble staying seated at several points during the film, it is amazingly inspiring. You can not begin to understand the concept of a true warrior without having knowledge of the Spartans story and/or seeing this masterful film.

300 is one of the best movies of the entire decade. The special effects / cgi effects are beautiful. The story line also deserves much praise. This is a movie to see at the theatre more than once!!! AMAZING 10/10!!! J & L.

Although this movie is quite graphic, it was extremely well done. The story line flowed smoothly, the photography and special effects were awesome. Having studied ancient Greek history, I was aware that it was not completely historically accurate... but the main premise is followed... that the Spartan men were the fiercest warriors of their day, and that 300 men did restrain the much larger forces of the Persian army under King Xerxes. I enjoyed it very much.

This movie was thrilling all the way through... the dialog is slightly corny at times with the emotional speeches, but the great cinematics and visual effects makes up for all that. go see it now!

Notice that the only low scores on this page were written by people who don't get the concept of fantastic reimagination of an historical event. It's based on a comic novel. WAKE-UP people!!! If you understand and assimilate the dognition that this is actually a fantasy/action movie, not historical, and want the see the most visually mind-blowing event in recent years, go see this without hesitation..

The most stupidest movie ever. First of all the persian army was the strongest army of those times and they never ate other human beings and these people (mostly greeks) they just can't take it and all they can do now is to make movies against the persians.

I love the cinematography utilized by the director. You see the same techniques used in Sin city. Utilizing the blend of freeze-frames, slow motion and grayscale make for unique eye candy. The acting was good, but my hat goes off to the fight choreographers that did an amazing job at creating the most fluid, powerful and brutal fight scenes I have ever seen. The only complaint about this film would be that It should have been 4 hours long!

Worth the trip to the theatre, and the 10 bucks. The CGI was amazingly life like throughout, the fighting scenes were some of the best I've ever seen. My only negative is that it was a little slow at times, and should of 20-30 minutes shorter, or more action!
| 8/10 | ybrc@ - 10 reviews 15.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
A good movie. Brillaint cinematography, and an entertaining story. Violent, but because of the special effects not realistic enough to make you really squirm.

History has great stories to tell. Here hollywood has taken a great story and messed it up. The action sequences done in slow motion get tedious, the dialog is thin at best. I've seen much better.

One of the best movies i've ever seen. Really dark, the fight scenes are amazing, the story is close to the history, but it's not trying to be a history movie. GO AND SEE IT.

I found the movie very boring and couldn't wait for it to be finished. I think people that "Loved" it had very low expectations. I do not recommend it to anyone; waste of time!
| 2/10 | nedakh@ - 14 reviews 15.3.2007 - age: 18-25 - 2 replies |
This is based on the comic book of the same name, and it is OBVIOUSLY amazing. It requires a sense of artistic insight to really understand this movie, instead of nitpicking at how the battle really went down. Don't think of it as the actual events but instead enjoy it as a "story" told from a different point of view. JUST GO SEE IT!

Erotic, beautiful, and oh so gory, all wrapped up in some of the most spectacular cinematic achievements of the century! Although I found myself cringing at times this film is a visual feast and is well worth the money. If you can, see it in IMAX!

It is not a real film. It is just some special effect and full of historical lies. That's why if you check the age of the people who have left good rate for this film are teenage who do not really pay attention to History just special effects like computer games.

First of all great movie. All haters only think they find it's not real to history, I hope so Miller explain his way of seeing it and for the one sayin it's a copy of gladiator the comic books was writin 2 years before gladiator came out. Best movie seen in a while.

I am a big fan of the Gladiator movie and Troy. I love those kind of movies so I think that I was expecting something like that. To me the movie started out in one place and went to another and ended there. I went to see it opening night and had to wait in line for an hour. There was a lot of action in the movie which was good but I wasn't as excited when I left as I was going in. [...] Niagara Falls

Great movie and story. A little bit too gratuitous with the violence, yet that is what makes it so compelling. Great dialogue for this type of movie and the special effects... well, that is what the movie is all about.
