300 was... Only average. I didn't pay for the movie, and I wouldn't go again, even if it was for free. The story line was crap, and the fantasy aspects of it really brought the movie down.

The cinematic style of this movie is very cool and entertaining. Awesome!!

The movie moves along quite well. The movie reminds me of the typical attitude which prevails today, in the North America culture, concerning our lethargic, laxidaisical "as long as I got mine - to hell with everyone else" approach to the mounting Muslim extremism (Iran - Persian)threatening world peace. This is brought out in the movie, as the king of Sparta has to take the bull by the horns and wake up Greece from their self-endulgent, stupor.

Boring. All style, no substance. No story, no acting, no characters, no plot, no dialogue. Ridiculous Persians adversaries. Silly machismo nonsense and glorification of war.

Amazing, one of the best action movies I have ever seen. Absolutely stunning special effects with mind blowing fight scenes that have the ability to stir up a sense of valor and courage in even the most timid. A complete masterpiece of an action movie. If you enjoyed movies like Braveheart and Gladiator then I guarantee that this movie will not disappoint you.

I find it funny how all you comic book nerds out there get angry when someone say's 300 isn't historically accurate. To me that doesn't matter, what does matter is the fact that the plot is replaced with Computer generated gore and slow motion sword fights. Those have got to be the least realistic battle scenes I have ever seen, and the most boring. Weak is all I can say, disappointing at best. Note below my comments how many nerd comic book lovers get mad at my review. Don't worry guys everyone loves it except me... [...]

Did I just go to Lord of the Spartans? If it were called that, I’d give it a higher mark. There was way too many comic book freaks, and inaccuracies and mistakes to make this movie quality. And to those who will respond that it isn’t historical, it is based on a book or comic, I answer that makes a BOOK, a COMIC AND A MOVIE that are historically wrong. I stopped counting the errors at around a dozen. Additionally I felt cheated. That I paid the ticket price and got American Propaganda. I can see the political complaints about this movie. I rolled my eyes at the ease the term “Freedom” was thrown around over and over again. Okay, you are Spartan. Society would ostracize your family if they didn’t kill you at birth at any sign of weakness. You are taken from your family at 7, beat-up and raped and starved. You are encouraged to steal food to eat, but you would be punished if caught – punished for getting caught. Your parents would rather see you die in battle than shamed in battle. All this, and they are “Free”? Hype only an American would believe. The same goes with barbarian verses civilized. The fight scenes looked amateurish. Not Spartans fighting. It was like the writer, actors, and director were all amateurs.

This is a movie that is visually astonishing and shouldn't be missed. The battles are very well done along with the great use of slow motion so the audience can appreciate it more. 9/10 see it

I give this movie a six not based on the sceneces but the historical event. If you know how the war actually took place you will be very frustrated after watching this movie, the effects were amazing and that's the only thing that got my attentions... By the ways persians don't have dark skin color... You do the math how much of it was fictions and how much fact!

I hated this movie... Feeling it was so overdone by those movie makers! Anyways, its so unpractical, for example, when the soldiers fight, the splashing blood of their enemies never fall on down, like disappear in the air; n the n the apple came out of nowhere really confused me a lot, especially that sexual scene of the king n his queen is a faulty stock as well, personally I dun see any point of it at all... Those ppl just did it to make their movie to be a movie, nothing is great.

This movie is one of the worst movies I have watched. It lacked a plot and as a historically inaccurate movie it was meant to be solely for entertainment and that it failed to do at least for me. The use of special effects and sexuality was so excessive that it lacked taste. Even the music was out of place.

This movie is amazing. Frankie Miller, the creator of Sin City, did an excellent job. He redeemed himself from the making of 300. Because of Sin City was a rotten tomatoe in my opinion, and 300 is the best movie ever invented.

Truly fantastic. Ive seen it twice, and could not stop watching the screen either time. Id definitely see it again if a friend asked me to see it with them.

True to the original story. Great movie effects. Hard to believe 'most' of it was green screen! (even harder to believe it was shot in Montreal)

You would have to be brain dead to think this movie was 'Great'. I like the visual, the story itself is trash. Houston

Untouchable, a grand tale with superb acting and captivating action to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole film.
| 10/10 | raiderkeeper@ - 4 reviews 29.3.2007 - age: 18-25 |
A tough one to rate. In some ways it was very good, in others it could be better. First the good (or at least impressive): Visually stunning. The special effects were terrific. Very graphic and gory (if you like that sort of thing) Some of the acting was quite good and some... Well... The film visually had a comic book feel to it (I understand it is based on a comic or graphic novel... As well as very loosely based on a historical event) The characters were essentially one-dimensional. The dialog was frequently laughably bad, but the message of courage, character and sacrifice was worthwhile and came through loud and clear. I thought that Lena Headey, who played Queen Gorgo had the most interesting role and was the only multidimensional character in the film. Would it be better to wait for the DVD? Hard to say, but a movie with such impressive visual effects is probably best enjoyed on the big screen. Last word... If you are looking for a potential oscar winning film, stay at home. If you are into action and special effects then this is a must see.

People are so quick to give movies a ten nowadays. What happens when you see a movie that really deserves a ten, what then? Give it a ten I guess. Anyway, 300 was a banquet for the eyes and that's about all. When all was said and done, there was really no believable motivation for Leonidas to sacrifice the lives of he and his men. And what for? Honor? In real life they blocked the hot gates to buy time for the rest of the greek armies to form. A delaying tactic. This wasn't really addressed clearly in the movie. Either way, the story was weak. He should have stuck to the facts. They might have turned what was a good movie into an awesome movie.

Amazing movie I only wish it was a bit longer story line. The rest is all good.
| 10/10 | sader18@ - 5 reviews 28.3.2007 - age: 18-25 |
There is no story, the dialogs are lame, the combat scenes are repetitive. We can see that Spartans extras have drawn abs. You want to see a real epic movie? Watch Gladiator again.

I dont know how people give it under 9... This movie is a beautiful mix of history and fiction (its based on the fight between the spartans and the persians at the Hot Gates (Thermopylae)) Frank Miller did wonders and Zack Snyder made a masterpiece of Frank Millers work. I am a big fan of Frank Miller myself, his Sin City series is amazing, cant wait for 2 and 3 to come out... Anyways, check this flick, it's a must see, ive been to it twice already and contemplating going a third time :)

Not that it's a bad movie... But not my kind of movie. I made the wrong choice. For a person who enjoys movies of ancient times. Looked to be well made, with action jam packed, I just lost interest.

Saw the movie and say what you like about Miller and his past novels and movies, this was a good movie. Special effects were good, and the storyline was not bad at all. I would recommend seeing it. Not a waste of money or time.

You can see this whole movie just by looking at the title of it on it's advertisement. Blood. The movie sets out to move your senses - first by tempting your taste for blood (which appears more than water), and next by manipulating your glands with useless sexuality. What is similar with both of these aspects is that both are the only drawing cards to help the movie succeed. The fighting characters are clones - literally. The rest of the characters round themselves up to bring together a relief plot; that is, relief from seeing the same glorified gore for the entire movie. It really is taped together with graphics and a blunted imagination. Don't see it, watch wrestling instead.
| 1/10 | andraeb@ - first review 28.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
I more than a little disappointed with the fact that there's blood spraying everywhere and there's none on the ground. Well done action seq. With a pretty good storyline. I was also sorry to not see more of the fat henchman, we got a teaser then that's all.
| 7/10 | clintsmid@ - first review 28.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
I just got home from the movies, It was NOTHING! No story, No creativity,.. It tried to be Gladiator which definitely failed, the lord of the ring and Troy, but it was none of them. The Sparta starred his role terrible. Making epic movies needs innovation. And everything was fakely exaggerated, all the time you feel it's a Video-game. I want to tell sth to my Persian friends, the character of Persians was so funny and beyond imagination that made the film unbelievably weak so leave the director alone with his thaughts, this movie will not even won a kindergarden prize, though the graphist is really expert and skill ful, in fact everything is just graphic. Bodies of sparthans, persian monsters, and by the way, don't you think when you cut off a head there must be a liquid bursting out named, mmm, ,mmm , , AH BLOOD!?
| 2/10 | nativegirl203@ - 2 reviews 28.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
I loved the vibe of this movie. Old school macho! Unlike the big guns, fast cars, gadgets and cool 1 liners to make a hero today this movie was awesome because men were men fighting for survival of their tribes! Gerald Butler rocked the lead role!"This is Spaaarrtaaa!"

| 9/10 | pyett@ - first review 27.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
It was a masterpiece like the 10 I am giving for this movie. Based on a true history you see the courage and the brave of a bunch of worriers agains a whole army... Making you realized that never loose hope without a fight.

One of the greatest battle movies ever made. Loved it. I seen it twice and it was just as good the second time. Doesn't get much better if you want to watch what real war should be like. A man's man movie.

Forget work, I'm training to be a Spartan!!! This movie won't change the world but it's entertaining as hell, as long as you're ok with extreme violence, loved it!
| 9/10 | mmacd8@ - 2 reviews 27.3.2007 - age: 26-35 |
Hubby didn't like it, but daughter and I did. Very dark and beautiful scenes, the fight scenes were gory and violent - just what I expected. The passion and pride and investment in their warriors brought back that history repeats itself time after time. Also left us wondering... Why can't we all just get along?
