Well-directed and well-acted film with an interesting storyline. DiCaprio is terrific at drawing us into his nightmare. Scorsese used some Hitchcockian effects (especially the scene on the cliffs), but what interested me was the philosophical musings on the state of psychiatry in the 50's. I didn't really like the musical score, but otherwise this was a fine movie filled with mystery and thrills. There was depth to it as well, in the sympathetic study of psychiatric patients. The head psychiatrist was well-played by Ben Kingsley. Those who are scoring it under 7 must not like labyrinthian plotlines or having to think about psychiatric patients.
