Don't know why people thought it was really romancy and trashy. I LOVED IT! My favourite superhero movie of all time!

This movie isn't good at all, if it wasn't forRyan Reynolds this movie would garbage. Don't watch.

I loved it. I really don't understand why so many people (and popular media) think it's garbage.

This has to be JOKE!! Green Lantern is my favorite superhero. But they picked the wrong actor. The special effects looked like a cartoon. The story was meh. Action was corny and the overall tone and dialogue was just corny and non-creative. Huge disappointment. I was cringing and thinking about walking out.

Green Lantern was the worst DC comics movie I've ever seen and heard of, please don't see it!
| 4/10 | connorhw1@ - 410 reviews 30.10.2011 |
An entertaining movie filled with action, a bit of romance and a bit of comedy. Ryan Reynolds, a good actor, very handsome, a beautiful body and also Canadian.

It's got great action in it. It's really good and it has awesome graphics. If you like marvel and action then you will love this movie.

It was reeeally bad - Blake and Tim are terrible and the storyline jumped all over. Who writes this crap?
| 5/10 | ie.zicap@ - 3 reviews 26.8.2011 - age: 26-35 |
I am loving to watch "Green Lantern" so much. I did go see it 5 times! I believe he is great hero!
| 9/10 | annaromao@ - first review 11.8.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Special effects and Ryan Reynolds did a very good job. I think it was well done.
| 10/10 | wizardworks@ - first review 11.8.2011 - age: 50+ |
I can't believe how bad this movie was. It started ok and once he was the Green Lantern it just went downhill the entire way. Green imagination VS yellow hack balls, then over.
| 4/10 | nayrmaclean@ - 37 reviews 7.8.2011 - age: 18-25 |
It was ok, I was expecting a lot more after seeing Thor, however seems that Thor was better!
| 6/10 | lomax363@ - 29 reviews 7.8.2011 - age: 50+ |
This was a fun movie, the story line was nice, the special effects are what ruined it for me though. But the movie is still great, has good scenes of Blake & Ryan, it was interesting.
| 7/10 | leysan.timi@ - 26 reviews 7.8.2011 - age: 13-17 |
I found the storyline and the chemistry to be very weak. Ryan Renold's chemistry with his leading lady was terrible! There was absolutely no great dynamics and character devolopement with Ryan's character from the beginning to the end. He just became the Green Lantern, did some training and that was that.
| 4/10 | davidnovak@ - first review 4.8.2011 - age: 26-35 |
Not being familiar with the Green Lantern comics I have to say I was very disappointed with this movie. While the acting was good, the SFX great, the movie spent far too much time explaining the background of the character and not enough action or threat. The story is weak and basically flat and the actors do their best to raise the bar, and enliven weak and cliched dialogue. The threat of an alien coming to Earth was nothing special - I mean who cares, and it's all been done before much better in "Doctor Who" and "Star Trek". While I wouldn't go so far as to say this movie was a stinker, neither was it the best film ever. A very average movie.
| 5/10 | bob.furnell@ - first review 29.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
I think that though the film may have some flaws in the view of many, if you give it a fair chance is a very entertaining movie. The acting is very decent, some of the CGI may need improvement but overall is a nice film in the super hero genre. PS: If you happen to have any beef with any of the lead actors or go because his, or you are not able to understand that this is basically a sci-fi film, please, oh please don't waste your time, it's sad to see misleading comments due to people expecting to see a piece of Bertolucci out of a film like this.

Just stay until the very end or you will miss something.
| 7/10 | fiveeight39@ - first review 25.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
I haven't read any of the Green Lantern comics, but I found that the premise was well and concisely explained. The CGI was good, but the 3D wasn't really needed, and unlike many of this summer's superhero movies, this doesn't need to be seen on a big screen. The set-up was good, and Ryan Reynolds did very well, on top of the fact that his character was well constructed. The ending, however, came on extremely suddenly; the buildup was pretty weak, and the end result was predictable. In other words, the plot wasn't great.
| 6/10 | marennie@ - 4 reviews 24.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
A pretty weak effort by all concerned. I didn't feel my money or time was entirely wasted, but I'm pretty sure I won't remember much about this movie in a week. Coulda been lots better.
| 6/10 | dtander@ - 11 reviews 23.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
There is a lot of action in this movie and it has a lot of surprises in it, and some parts are scary, but I really like it a lot, and last but not least why is it called Green Lantern.
| 10/10 | ddcarroll@ - first review 19.7.2011 - age: 1-12 |
Let's just say Ryan Reynolds saved the day. Never read the comics before but the character grew on me. The writers did a pretty good job explaining the roots of his cockyness and he's actually one superhero I could like. Other than that, there was no (intriguing) story at all: totally shallow, just a little less than Thor. This mean this could have been an animated cartoon voiced-over by well-known actors and actresses.
| 6/10 | havah350@ - 53 reviews 19.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
Again another movie with too much talking and less action. It was too long and boring (really very dragyyy)
| 6/10 | shazjoao@ - 1723 reviews 18.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Though the visuals are great and the action is decent, the overall film seems a little choppy and rushed at times, jumping around with little tastes of everything and not enough of any one thing. Reynolds injects his trademark humorous style into the portrayal of what is often a fairly flat comic book character (don't get me wrong I grew up reading and loving GL, but let's face it Hal Jordan is a pretty flat in the vastness of comic book characters) and helps pull it off pretty well. The supporting characters go from forgettable (who was the guy with the Jeep and why was he let in on everything?) to sexy (Carol never looked so good) to almost stealing the show (Sinestro!) I was glad I went to see it, but with such a rich source to draw from (especially when including the whole GL corps) it seemed like it should have had something more to it. I probably won't remember this one long, but would still like to see a sequel.

Not bad, but entirely predicatable. Overly focused on a cheesy romance. Good action when they took the time, excellent special effects.
| 6/10 | djealas59@ - 21 reviews 17.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
Weak film. Ryan Reynolds does everything he can but the script is weak. I loved this director when he made 'Casino Royale', a fantastic film, but this was not that calibre.
| 6/10 | dannimac@ - 66 reviews 17.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
I think people wanted tons of special effects. This had more story, then action. Renolds and lively were better the I thought they would be.
| 8/10 | spkrman15@ - 5 reviews 16.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Everything is there for a superhero movie, but maybe the aspect of the powers of the hero which is sort of silly, made the story a little too childish in my opinion. And what a waste of money in going seeing in 3D, not recommend it!
| 5/10 | silverpepsiguy@ - 88 reviews 14.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
Ryan Reynolds tackles (and, indeed, plays with) what could be one of the most wooden of all the DC characters. Hal Jordan is a 'chosen' hero, which means that his attributes should be obvious, but Ryan dials them back and has some fun with the role. The rest of the cast is mostly very strong (including Mark Strong, come to that) and Sarsgaard makes for a believable boffin-turned-villain. Some crisp writing and compelling special effects make this a good starting point for a larger franchise.

I am an avid fan of both Ryan Reynolds and the Green Lantern. It's my favorite superhero and my favorite actor in one what a big bonus this is plus the movie was well crafted... I watched it 8 times now and still counting.

Best Movie ever!!! Ryan Reynolds is the sexiest actor alive for all girls worth going to see that movie omg!!! A guy in tights never looks so hot like Ryan Reynolds does...

Ok movies with superheroes are normally awesome but this was a disgrace. If you only saw 15 min of the beginning you could already predict THE ENTIRE MOVIE. Michael Bay made a terrible film and I recommend not to watch this. I have to admit that the action was decent though, the storyline ruined it.

Ryan Reynolds is great and his subtle humour along with good graphics makes for a good show.
| 7/10 | itishere@ - 153 reviews 10.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
A film with no substance. Good special effects but nothing remarkable that has not been seen in other action movies. Reynolds played this one in a comedic fashion which did not quite fit. The worst Batman movie was better.

Good fun. A good mix of action and story. Worth seeing on the big scrren for the visuals.
| 7/10 | thoreo@ - 7 reviews 9.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
WOW one of the worst super hero movies I have seen. The movie was to short and there was more Romance instead of super hero type.
| 2/10 | zshaw2010@ - 9 reviews 8.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
A renter. Average special effects and 3-D was superfluous. The big fight scene that ends the movie (and any action movie) was hokey... yes hokey... The story may have followed the original comic book, but; who cares?
| 3/10 | psterl3384@ - 123 reviews 8.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Not a big fan of Ryan Reynolds but I really liked this movie. Better than I expected with a good story and excellent effects!

Very disappointing. Script was so basic that it really was for younger viewers. If you're expecting an Iron Man, stay home.

Kids loved it. I found it entertaining but a few little inconsistencies drove me nuts. Big close up on Ryan Reynolds face as he's thinking back to his dad's death shows him in the present with brown eyes and as a kid with big blue eyes. Doesn't affect the storyline but don't the filmmakers see this stuff? Frustrating. But a decent superhero flick.

I liked this movie. I am not very familiar with Green Lantern story so I appreciate a bit of a background. For me, characters and storyline appear strong... as this movie reiterates the complexity of human emotions and vulnerabilities. I would have preferred to watch this in 2D though.
| 8/10 | redcap1210@ - 31 reviews 6.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
Good summer movie. Not disappointing but not a must see. Ok writing, ok-ish acting but this has probably more to do with the whole thing being green-screened than any fault of the actors. And the whole thing is respectful of the original comic book mythology of Green Lantern.

If I wanted to see a romance, I would have just stayed at home and watched The Notebook. I was expecting more action then love!!!

Not as good as I expected. Great visuals, but convoluted story line and poor continuity.

Alright so I enjoyed this movie but it could've been better, I wouldn't pay for it in theaters, either rent it when it comes out or just don't see it.
| 4/10 | riko1@ - first review 5.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
I simply didn't enjoy it. The graphics were good, but that can only carry a movie so far. The acting was decent, but the story seemed like it fell apart. The commercial pretty much summed up the movie. There were some laughs, but they were few and far between.
| 5/10 | heather_squirrel@ - 4 reviews 4.7.2011 - age: 18-25 |
I went to see an updated version of the comic book and that is exactly what I got. The story was close to the original and it was entertaining. It's the first movie introducing this character so it is going to have dialog and back story but it's not a drama so don't go into it thinking it's going to be all action or all drama. Worth watching for Comic book fans.
| 10/10 | white848@ - 2 reviews 4.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
This is a hard one. While I didn't hate it, I didn't love it either. Effects were good, players were great, story line not so good. I think they could have done more with the lanterns. Shown more trining, got more into the who they are and so on. Hopefully next one will be better. And please NO 3D some of us can't watch it and it didn't make it any better at the end of the day.
