Saw this 3 or 4 times, and well worth it each time just for the sets... I wonder how realistic they were? Loved the footage at Balmoral, particularly the kitchen scene... Couldn't believe how antiquated the kitchen was, so delightful, showing a strong sense of tradition. I've never been what you could call a royal watcher although I've always admired the dignity and good works of the monarchy. But this movie inspired me to learn more about the queen's position and duties, and it was eye-opening for me. The movie did a great job of depicting the amount of responsibility the queen has, and at how well she handles it. Helen Mirren's portrayal was exceptional. At times it was hard to believe she was acting, and not the real McCoy. One aspect I did not like was the way Prince Philip and Prince Charles were depicted as such buffoons. Most unfair from what my research has shown. They may not be as admirable as the queen, but certainly they cannot be as bad as the movie showed them. Altogether an absorbing film.
