The return of the classical teen vampire thriller, at last! This is no silly soap opera about vampires with whom we "identify", but a SUSPENSEFUL film about a vampire who is just human enough to be horribly frightening in his evil; "Jerry" is suave and arrogant at the same time that he is menacing and bloodthirsty. The acting is first-rate throughout; every character is believable, even though most are stereotypes. The script worked well, as the characters' personal problems added to both the horror and the humour; I was "involved" in spite of myself. This is a re-make that is true to the spirit of the original but which updates it well. It's more a 7.5 than a 7; a really good movie that is not quite great, but very, very fun.
