A pretty good straight ahead comedy for the first half of the picture but then shifts gears and becomes more of a romantic comedy leading to the end. This duality pivots on the changes in character of the leading man Ben Stone played by Canadian Seth Rogen. Ben Stone starts out more like ‘Ben Stoner’ and the story hinges on the question of whether this slacker can become a solid-as-a-rock father and potential husband to the beautiful Allison played by Katherine Heigl. We see in this picture the shortcomings of both sexes as they navigate through the relationship jungle. Most situations are highly exaggerated for comedic purposes but it all works quite well and you should be entertained and amused for the most part.
