Andrew Niccole is a genuine sci-fi director with serious sci-fi ideas and concepts. IN TIME is a good companion piece to Niccole's GATTACA but does not have the same powerful undercurrent of GATTACA. The plotting in the third act becomes formulaic and by-the-numbers. The ideas in IN TIME are original and needed a more introspective and personal approach at the existential angst of these characters instead of a conventional wrap-up. Still IN TIME deserves a look by serious sci-fi fans who don't wnat their sci-fi to be a subtext of cowboys versus indians. And Justin Timberlake may give a competent performance but I find it hard to take him seriously.
