This movie stirred many emotions within me and caused me to look at myself. The intimate relationship that was evident between man and horse was beautiful. I had to go out and buy the video the next day and have watched it several times since. I also enjoyed how humor, greed, lust and temptation where portrayed with honesty. The parallels between the Indian and Arab cultures with Frank and Azira brought to light thier struggles and how they continued to overcome. As I watched Hildago last night again, I noticed at the end when Frank was thinking about killing Hildago and he began the Indian ghost song, he took off the saddle and cowboy hat. When Hildago rose and Frank realized the race wasn't over, he mounted Hildago an Indian, not a cowboy and that made tears flow as I connected with how Frank had come to the end of himself, and he cried out to what his mother had taught him, which he had been hiding all his years. Wow! Viggo Mortensen was terrific as Frank Hopkins. Thanks for the chance to share my opinion. [...]

I thought it was a great movie, if you like cowboys, horses, and action. I loved it all.

This movie was entertaining from start to finish! Our entire family youngest being 11 yrs all enjoyed the action packed movie. A great and must see film.

Not too bad, could have ramped up the action, but overall, I was entertained for 2 hours. Maybe a 61/2 to 7.

Okay so I don't like horses & didn't want to see a movie about one, but it was a free screening. Man, am I glad I did! This is a hell of a lot better than one would think. Nothing boring in this film; it's exciting, visually satisying, and just plain good! What a nice surprise to be nicely surprised, to actually enjoy a movie ya thought you weren't going to like. Horse racing was NEVER this good -- see it, you won't be sorry.

I LOVED this movie, and it helps that Viggo Mortensen is my favorite actor. He was great looking and great acting in it. I liked how the actors and actresses they chose weren't such fake Americanised ones, so much as good actors. Full of action, great if you love horses, and a little bit of history and Indian background on the side. A must-see!

Not too serious, but not a bad little film.

A wonderful story that reminds us of what is intrinsically good in every person. It was interesting now to see a film that dealt with an american "cowboy" with aboriginal hertiage go horse head to horse head with Muslims that, like the 'white man' abuse the aboriginal peoples in their part of the world. In addition to thourghly enjoying this film I found myself wondering about other issues it might be paroding that are part of our everday life as people that live in the United States today.

Ok, it's true that the guy was as much fiction as truth, but go to the movie in the spirit of a fictitious adventure and you'll have a great time. The scenery is panoramic, the action is good and the story stays interesting. It is surprisingly accurate in detail at times and doesn't end up just a trite hero-survives-great-odds-and enemies-to-get-girl story. It's a good, clean adventure story, and it doesn't hurt that Viggo Mortensen is a born horseman.

I thought it was an alright movie, definitely have seen better though. I think it's a movie worth you money and time, but you can find that out for yourself.

The movie was alright could of had more action. The preview look alot better than the actual movie.

The movie was absolutly amazing!!! It was way better than the Lord of The Rings. This is a must buy!!!

The movie is entertaining, with lots of action. But gets a little flat with all of the speeches. Great scenery, and the horses are beautiful to watch. Though it is interesting that they refer to Hidalgo as a mustang, when one of the stand-ins is obviously an Apaloosa. I did not like Disney trying to pass this entertaining movie off as an historical fact, when it has been proven that Frank T. Hopkins was a bonefide liar and story teller.

Whether you're an animal lover or not, this movie really showed how much an animal can change any mans life. The plot was a new idea and thought they did a great job of the casting and such. The ending couldn't have been better. I tear starter :D.

Great movie, a great story and a lot of action.

Entertaining in a low-key manner, much like the acting style of vigo Mortensen. Beautiful images of wild horses running free, and some natural charm and humour, but not exceedingly compelling nor dramatically epic in it's scope or direction. Still, quite enjoyable to watch.

Did you see the previews? Then you saw the best parts of the movie. The rest was slow and the romance so contrived it wasn't remotely believable. Movie tried to be all things to all people. Can understand why little kids would like it but adults should wait for the video.

I was a bit dissapointed in this film. I guess I went in with too much expectations. All the advertisings for Hildago was about all that was worth seeing.

I was expecting more from this film. For me it was just alittle too slow paced, but I would still say worth seeing. Just be prepared to see an average movie.

Hildalgo was a great movie!!! To everyone saying it was this and that in a negitive way and how tehre were errors THE MOVIE WAS BASED ON A TRUE STORY!!! They couldnt change everything to be the way it was if it wasnt realy! I thought it was a great movie and I went and saw it!!! I WILL buy it when it comes out to!!!

I have no clue why you people are saying it was bad in any way. Okay I will admit the horse was better than certain actors/actresses. I found the tension overwhelming and I hung on to my seat in certain parts. Some suspense was UNBEARABLE. It should be nominated for oscars I tell you. It's BETTER THAN A DISNEY MOVIE. To all the people who are considering going to "Hidalgo". Ignore these people criticizing the movie. They couldn't do any better. Go and see it! IT IS NOT A WASTE OF MONEY. Anyway just GO SEE IT!

This epic tale of a rider and his horse is an instant classic. Beginning in the old west a washed up Hero country race rider (Viggo Mortsen) and his trusty steed Hidalgo captur the hearts of all who see them. There final journey takes place in the middle east where they have to race over the desert. With all odd leaning against them the duo put up an enchanting fight. This movie raises hopes, has high tention and good excitment, in fact it should have been longer, because you could never get enough of "Hidalgo".

So many huge errors, especially, Arab girl wasnt even closed to pretty.

Voggo still remains the king! I hope this gets at the least best set and costume design at the oscars.

This movie was very upsetting. I absolutely loved it. It was the worst movie ever. It was even better then the lord of the rings. Mortenson Viggo was absolutely amazing for this part. He never brought out the real character. The horse was ugly. Hialgo was especially beutiful.

Good story, good choice of characters, all of the Arab people in that movie were not Arabic except for the King they had a very thick Arabic accent, overall I liked its exciting and I recommend you watch it in at the theaters rather then wait to rent it.

Excellent movie and Viggo has proven he was not a fluke in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Thoroughly entertaining.

What a fabulous story! They don't make many movies like this one these days.

I too was waiting to see this movie as I had been told that it compared to Indiana Jones movies. However, I was very dissapointed. I found this flick very confusing and full of glaring errors. A white woman alone, without a man, in the middle of the Arabic desert? I don't think so especially in the time this movie depicted. His horse made a miraculous recovery that was not believabe as well. One moment the horse is on his last legs and the next it is winning the race, running faster that ever. Sorry I wasted my money... again.
