Extremely boring movie - with horribly ugly characters. NOT for Children. NOT for adults. I can't even imagine the audience that might actually enjoy this movie. If you insist on seeing it, rent it, don't buy!

"Frankenweenie" is a touching and intelligent story about a boy and his dog and it's sure to delight adults and children too. Make no mistake though, this isn't really a comedy, it does have some laughs in it, but it doesn't aim to have you fall out of your seat; it has a story to tell and takes you through it. Not only does the film look great, with a bold visual style, black and white colour scheme and stop motion animation (which always looks excellent when properly executed) but if you have seen the original short, this is a very intelligent expansion of it. The story takes the original idea of re-animating your best four-legged friend and takes the concept further, exploring how other people would react, in both the best and worst ways. It also has a genuine sense of wonder and creativity, which is refreshing when so many children's films are just glorified commercials (children that were leaving the theatre where I saw this were excited to create either their own films or start their own personal projects as soon as they got home) If you're a classic horror fan you'll be very entertained by the numerous references to classic horror films ranging from Universal Monsters to the Hammer Horrors, which do not feel forced and are entertaining even if you have no idea what they are alluding to. It's a great time at the theatre and a delight for the whole family, though watching it in 3-D is not required.

Amazing, classic and so enjoyable with lots of laugh and tears all wrapped up in one. Please take time to see it. Kids these days takes a lot for them to say its scary.

The movie starts out pretty good and then it goes to the dark side. Yes I know it is a Tim Burton's movie but it does not have to be creepy to be a good movie. I could not wait to the end of the movie came. It would have been really diffucult for the young ones to sit through that.

Not the best thing that Tim Burton has put out, but still pretty good. It did take a long time for the film to really get momentum, but I still enjoyed it. The references to classic horror films was pretty awesome.

Started out great then sort of ran out of gas. Clever characters aren't enough no matter how beguiling. I couldn't wait for it to end.

Nearly flawless and entertaining in every sense. Even scary at times, which I wasn't expecting. Not as engaging as Burton's Corpse Bride or The Nightmare Before Christmas, but this will on its own stand as one one of Burtons best films in years.

The art is fantastic. So creepy and cute. The characters were great and had real depth, and if you're an animal lover this will really tug on your heart strings. Probably not totally suitable for young or sensitive children, but I enjoyed it.

I loved it and it was so creative, creepy, funny and very clever!!! Tim Burton is brilliant. The characters were great and very imaginative as well as the entire movie... A must see in the theater for all of the amazing details in this movie. The audience loved it also...

Target audience is completely missed here. The movie is too violent for children, and the story doesn't have enough meat in it to hold an adult's attention for an hour and a half. Definitely something you can watch at home.

I went to see this with my 14yr old daughter and we loved it! But we're both Tim Burton fans... We laughed, we cried, we smiled, etc... This being said I wouldn't bring young children to see it, especially if they're sensitive. Definitely not an "every kids movie".

Tim Burton is one of my favs! I love this guy's imagination and creativity. Loved the story, the black & white aspect and the characters as individuals. There was a bit of comedy but I wouldn't take my kids to see this it would be to scary for them. Surprised it's Disney to be honest. Reminded me of Nightmare Before Christmas!

This was surprise to me, I thought it be a meh, but I enjoyed it, I laughed, I thought the characters were ridiculous, the whole SHELLY/Godzilla thing was very funny. I saw the original and prefer that ending more, specially since this movie has nothing to learn from, no moral of the story, there was, but then they took it away, where the original had it, but that's what happens when Disney has to be kid friendly.

I would give the storyline a 4-5, seen it before. What saves this movie are special effects. Don't get me wrong it's worth watching but it's not an unique movie that you cannot miss.

Extremely boring movie... a little creepy, didn't see any jokes... like any jokes at all, don't know what got in to Tim Burton to shoot this movie. And it was also very predictable... feels like I spent my time on nothing. My advice - better stay home and do some cleaning then watch this film.

Now I admit I'm older but at the theatre I thought I'll see something different, and I like Tim Burton so what the heck. And this was a good entertaining movie with a story about a boy and his dog. And who doesn't like a story about a boy and his dog. Cute/sad/good story. Almost makes me wanna get a dog.

Good movie... Is a movie for all family... I'm not a fan of stop motion and b/w movie, it's an old style but is an award to Frankenstein movie, coz was in b/w but I have to recognize was a very good job... Thx Tim well done.

I was thoroughly entertained. I thought the characters were fabulous. I loved the black and white, and all the references to all the classic horror films. I suggest watching the short made back in the 80's as well. I remember watching it when I was a kid so I was really excited when I found out he was making it into a full-lenght feature.

Basically entirely fine. Little drops below that bar, but just as little climbs above it. The two best things it has going for it are its commentary on film as a medium and Strange Love during the credits. Otherwise, I wasn't bored, I guess.

Frankenweenie is an expansion of one of Tim Burton's first student films and in some ways can be seen as his baby. He successfully melds both the boy and his dog scenario with the classic Frankenstein novel. Die hard fans will be able to spot hidden jokes/references to both the book and such horror icons as Vincent Price. Frankenweenie is filmed in black and white just like the original movie and it really adds to the atmospheric 1930s/40s horror movies that are referenced in this movie. Do not miss.

Full disclosure - I love Tim Burton's movies and I'm a 'classic' horror movie buff. I really enjoyed every minute of the movie. Most kids (under 30) won't get all the references, but I had a great time. Elfman's music really sets the mood. I didn't even mind the 3D, though it wasn't overly necessary.

My son has historically enjoyed Tim Burton movies, as have I, however this movie was much to be desired. First, as the whole movie is in black and white, save the extra bucks for the 3D. Not sure how to describe this movie; funny, not so much, scary, not so much, movie line and characters, boring... but it was slightly gross. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone, unless maybe it's free.

Burton fans will love it as well stop motion, animated fans also. This movie screams homage to Frankenstein as well a small nod to Vincent Price with some hints of other classic monster movies. Small easter egg for Gamera wich was cute and funny. Characters were simple and storyline quite basic, a boy's love to his dog. The last segment of the movie is where the Hommage for Frankenstein is played. Fairly entertaining and pleasant, a little morbrid at times but never the less a good movie to enjoy. A breath of fresh air amist of horrible sequels, cashcow reboots and blandless movies for a quick buck. Just in time for Halloween before that name gets stricken out for fear of offending anyone!!

There were some cute moments. However, the story became repetitive of previous movies, and of the story within itself (He's dead, he's alive!, he's dead, he's alive!, he's dead, he's alive!) Also, it was a bit gross to feed the baby the soother with dog drool on it (yuck!), and to scrutinize the kitty, uh, waste. I thought it was more gross-out than horror/suspense (even for kids)

Tim Burton at his best! This movie is his imaginary world inhabited by heartbroken figures living in a Poe's tragedy. Amazing cartoons sketched by his hand. I am happy that Sparky is different from the real Frankenstein monster... Sparky is lovely and I want a dog like that! We can see lots of references to classic horror mythology, to mute cinema times and to the Film Noir's atmosphere. The lighting... the lighting.. Seeing a movie like this, in black and white, and in 3D is quite an experience. It was worth paying the extra money for the glasses. I didn't regret the 3D experience for the first time in my life. The story isn't really important. It's a reenactment of Frankenstein's story and was already told millions of times. It's the visual experience that is supposed to move us because what we are seeing is art. Tim Burton's art. I went with my 4 year old boy and he loooved it! Fantastic!!

I thought it was good for what it was - a family movie. It was mostly geared toward children with a few classic horror film references thrown in for the adults in the audience. I found the japanese (?) character a little troubling in its stereotype, and I'm a little concerned about the pets out there who might get experimented on... but mostly it was harmless fun. I would not recommend it to fans of Burton's more mature (and better) films like Ed Wood and Edward Scissorhands.

Originality is sucked out of this film. Plus, a kid's movie with all the elements of a very light horror film don't make for a good younger audience experience. Finding Nemo is still in theatres. Choose to go to Finding Nemo rather than this "movie material."
