It was a good movie overall. Powerful with full of good stars in it. Keanu did an awesome job.

I didn't like it like all the other Keanu Reeves movies, but it was okay.

I am so disappointed, by no means does it even come close to being as good as the original. Keanu Reeves as an actor has the ability to either make or break a movie he made the Matrix Trilogy and Constantine but in this case he broke the movie with his all to alien performance. Sure it's his character but the plot of the original is Klatu falls in the love with the female scientist whatever her name was I can't really remember all in all an utter disappointment don't see well if your curious I guess but I don't see much other reason to watch this pathetic excuse of a movie...

Probably meets the befuddled requirements many moviegoers have for what makes good SF despite actualy being good SF. I am making no sense perhaps. Well, sometimes a good one sneaks through, not that anyone would really notice it, being as befuddled as their completely befuddled parents, living in a befuddled world full of befuddled bus drivers and befuddled landlords staring at snow storms on their tvs with befuddled looks on their otherwise blank faces. The befuddlement must continue. Klatu was right. Drool Warning.

The day the earth stood still: Which movie was that? Oh ya, the movie I tried to forget! It was long, boring pointless, cheesy, predictable and did I mention boring? Actors sucked, story was lame, not worth watching. Save yourself an hour and a half and go do something else beside watch this movie. You'll thank me.

Despite what this movie says humans are not destroying the planet. The military presence demonstrated in this movie and many recent ones is to prepare people mentally for the forthcoming Marshall law (Tyranny) where the west will be brought Down to 3rd world status. Funny that Klaatu wanted to speak to the UN, and also very revealing that the orbs act as 'Arcs' removing species from the Earth to repopulate after the 'Flood'. Much to mull over in this movie. Consider it a warning and learn not to take the world as presented to you by the media, whether Music, books, Movies, TV, Radio or the news.

Movie not so bad but the little boy's character (Jacob) was so annoying. Dear God, it was enough to wish for the end of the world... It's incredible that Jennifer Connelly found yet another crying role to play...

I loved this movie so much because of Keanu he is an awesome actor I loved that triple x flick he did (was the most lively I've ever seen him) this movie was a 10 out of 10. [...]

This movie was the worst movie I ever saw. Extremely boring. Not worth the money. Wait for TV. I was bored the whole way through.

This movie misses various opportunities to receive a 10/10. A lot of the high points of its predecessor have been missed here and it's true that the ending is too simple. Still, the movie is engaging enough to deserve better reviews. I would recommend it.

This movie was excellent from the start to the end. It gets going straight from the beginning and things move quickly throughout for the most part which should keep ones interest. It keeps to the general idea of the original 1951 movie but at the same time, it adds alot of it's own originality to it so you get something very fresh and original rather than a straight sequel. I also like this remake more than the original. While I like all the actors like Keanu and Jennifer, my favorite actor wasn't an actor at all but the character of GORT. GORT definitely has a different powerset than in the original, especially towards the end. That's all I'll say so as not to ruin anything. I don't know why so many people are talking Down on this movie. Everything is great, the acting, the special effects, etc... It's all fabulous. One of my favorite movies off all-time. A 100% recommendation from me.

I thoroughly loved this movie, with the exception of the little boy, his character was good, but the actor wasn't so hot... the story was true to the original from '51 and the new effects are amazing... Keanu Reeves' character was just as amazing, no matter what anyone says...

This movie is so terrible it was delight to see it. Please don't forget your sense of humor at home. Even if it was (visibly) unintentionally hilarious, we had a great time. Keanu Reeves deserves a trophy named after him! Do not miss this movie! Uncontrollable laughter in our case!

The reason Keanu Reeves has become famous is strongly shown in this movie and that’s pretty much why I liked it. Keanu Reeves has become famous for not showing any emotion while acting take the Matrix, or The Replacements for example. He simply doesn’t show emotion. But he’s one of my favourite actors for it, that’s the only reason I saw it. I probably wouldn’t have seen it if he wasn’t.

I had low expectations but I wanted to give the movie a chance. I'm not a Keanu-hater so he wasn't the problem for me. The movie just stank and right from the beginning. The special effects were less than spectacular and some were laughable. The product placements were quite annoying - I doubt the US government trusts their security to Microsoft Vista. Jaden Smith put in one of the worst child acting performances I've seen in a while.

I do not recommend this movie to anyone, absolutely a B- movie. Besides the special effects, nothing worth to see if you pay for it. Wait until the film is shown on regular tv.

Though the ending is somewhat expected, thoughtout movie you think, reflect, react. Your feelings of guilt and despair give way to hope based on one simple human reaction and emotion. Fabulous movie.

The original was amazing. This remake movie was nothing special beyond the special effects. Reeves isn't an actor for a serious role like this movie. It is like having Arnold S. In Casa Blanca.

The best movie I've seen in a long time. It was creative and meaningful. The effects were interesting. It held my interest all the way through. The acting was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. If you love sci-fi, see this movie.

Very unfortunate they didn't make more out of this movie. There isn't enough of a focus on the alien part, the science itself. I didn't feel there was good acting either. You don't feel the alien invasion is creating so much of a crisis worldwide. And would how governments truly fire right away at the alien, cmon, I'm sure we would want to know more than just fight at them... I'm waiting for a true sci-fi to come along. One that makes you truly appreciate the vastness of space and fact we're not that spectacular after all, here on the planet. Since the movie Contact, none have been made that has struck me so much...

Dont miss this. Sooo worth the laughs =) there were so many plot holes and mistakes. Keanu Reeves didn't even -need- to act... wow... totally worth it. It made my night!

I hadn't seen the previews (as far as I remember), and I think that put me at an advantage. If you're expecting to sit on the edge of your seat the whole time, you probably won't. However, if you're looking for something a little different from the typical, over-done, sci-fi thriller, this is the movie to see. It does move at a slower pace, but only because it focuses on the individuals involved - brings it Down to a more personal level - and that was what gave it meaning. And pay attention - every detail is explained at some point. Just remember to walk in as if you know nothing about what's coming - no expectations or anticipations, just keep your mind open to possibilities. Not all good sci-fi has to come in the form of a thriller movie!!

Very excellent film! Told the story perfectly, and Reeves played Klaato with no emotion which conveyed the characters novilization very well.

Slow and what's up with the ending. I honestly can say it was a very boring movie. I like the actors but this did nothing for their careers.

I was surprised considering the bad publicity this film got. It was ok. I should say thats a typical Reeves movie. Not much talk but some good action and suspense. I loved the story, I hated one actor, Jaden Smith, he got the role mainly because of his parents and not because of his acting talents, he was totally bad. As for the rest, they were ok. Ending ended abrupt, too abrupt. Should have continued like 2-5 minutes just to give us a good ending.

The movie obviously is sending an important message that most of the viewers who rated it less than 7 missed. They should go back and watch it again perhaps this time something will sink in.
