Really good. The best Tom Hanks movie since Apollo 13!

A very sweet and innocent kinda movie. Was suprised that it was pretty good all considering that is.

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are excellent. Well done real life performance.

Little cute movie; I had to go to school for a career change so I could relate to Tom Hank's character's experience. However, the movie is unrealistic. It kinda illustrates the usual 50yr old man mid-life crisis rather than someone who is forced to contemplate different professional venues because of a lay-off. I guess a lot of people were disappointed of that; the movie doesn't have the depth this kind of script could have had. And I don't really understand the point of Julia Roberts' character: she was fun but useless. So is Gugu's character... The whole movie was a mess.

I like to think I have good taste in movies and want to assure you this movie is boring, bad, poorly done etc. etc. I fell asleep 35 minutes into it. Save your time and go to another movie. What was Tom Hanks thinking!

What a disappointment! Apart from a couple of cute scenes mostly very predictable humour. You can take your grandmother to see this movie but even she'll be very bored. Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks have no chemistry, and Tom Hanks should stay away from writing.

It was a good movie. I liked the feel good aspect. The plot is OK and the acting is OK, but it could have been better.

The script was weak but the acting, especially in supporting roles, made the film fun to watch. I laughed a lot, and WITH the movie, not AT it. George Takei was an extremely funny.

Nice happy pleasant movie. Not a downer in any way. I was very glad I overlooked the low rating.

Relevant subject matter in a downsizing time of love and economics.

I took my wife to see this movie. Half way through I offered to return and pick her up when it was done. It is one of the worst movies I have ever endured. There was a weak story line and the acting was terrible. Julia Roberts was particularly bad. A critic in one of the papers gave it 1/2 star and I think he was being very kind. One and a half hours of boredom. Watching paint dry would have been better.

Characters one dimensional, story unbelievable, a middle aged man's fantasy.

I decided to treat my daughter and visiting daughter in law to a movie, and knew you can never go wrong with Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts. We all agreed. Unfortunately, when the movie was over I actually apologized to them for my poor choice. The characters were unbelievable and moronic. I shudder to think that anyone would believe this is a good representation of people down on their luck. While the message is vaguely clear, that you can still live a good and happy life, is it necessary to lose brain cells to do so? You missed the mark on this one, Tom and Julia. Looking forward to your next one, I'm sure it will be better.

Movie was so-so, but I liked Julia Roberts & Tom Hanks. Hope they can make another together.

If the movie hadn't starred Hanks & Roberts, I would have hoped of myself to leave half way through. There was no flow, no believability in the characters and as it turns out, a very weak ending. Other than that, the movie was tolerable at best.

This was a horrible movie, do you know how many movies are out [there] that are almost exactly like this one. It gets annoying, try being creative.

Nice little movie about second chances and changing the direction of your life. Some have criticized it for this or that, but it is a light romantic comedy for adults. Those who complain about the plot or character development went into the wrong cinema.

I loved Larry Crowne. I am in my late 30's and thought it was great! Funny. Perfect for those of us who have had a deviation in the plan that we had when we were 19:)

Even though I'm a fan of both Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, this movie disappointed. The concept of starting over and going back to college was good but at times I didn't know it was a comedy. Julia Roberts is becoming too predictable with her same laugh and gestures. I kept waiting for the storyline to pick up and before you knew it the movie was over. Execution of lines was boooring and this coming from two Oscar winners. Total miscast of characters. Perhaps it would have been better with Colin Farrell playing Tom's part and Tina Fey playing Julia's part. Save your money.

It's hard to hate Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, and it's hard to hate this film because of that. I rooted for the actors more than I did the characters and I could clearly see what they were trying to do with the story but it never quite got there. Or anywhere. Most characters were unrealistic, especially the 'free spirited' friend Larry meets, who goes out of her way to 'help' Larry. I hate to give something from these two actors such a low rating but this film underwhelmed me, though to be honest it could be partly because my expectations for them are quite high.

A waste of my time and my money and a waste of talent for Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. I like these guys, but this movie was a big disappointment for me and others.

Waste of time, but worth it if you are in a date and the last thing that you want is to watch the film ;) This film missed most of the guidelines that good cinematography follows. It is very surprising considering that Tom Hanks wrote it and may also have directed it. You would think that he knows better at this point of his carreer. He probably does and he does not care a bit. He is completly out of touch of reality. His story telling is weak and the character development is worse. Sorry to tell you but with big names such as Julia Roberst and Tom Hanks himself in the staring roles, it is obvious, he (Tom) is there just for the money and not the Oscar. Worse movie I have watched in a long time. Shame on you Tom.

Very funny movie with a lot of interesting character actors. George Takai is hysterical! Good chemistry between Tom Hanks & Julia Roberts. I quite enjoyed it! Good soundtrack too, particularly if you like Tom Petty.

I was expecting a lot more from this movie, especially since Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts played in it. It had no real storyline and, quite frankly, it was boring. A waste of time and money.

Saw it with an audience in the 40-50 year old range and, from the chit-chat on the way out, they loved it. It's a movie about re-building your life after it has been crushed by the normal events one runs across in life. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for anyone who has: a) been divorced, b) been fired after a long (and one thought, successful) career, c) tried to re-build your life after getting knocked down; or d) all of the above.

If it was possible, I'd give it a 0. I haven't walked out of a movie since 1979 when I was tortured by some movie starring Elliot Gould and a boxing kangaroo. After close to a half hour, my wife and I were totally disgusted with this idiotic movie. Every character in the movie seemed to have an IQ only slightly higher than my rating of this movie. Tom and Julia, what were you thinking?

Better than the reviews will make you believe. A very honest and light entertainment, sweet and charming. Worth seeing even if it's not an Oscar contender ;-)

I saw a lot of different reviews here for this movie. Seems like people hated it or loved. I was not inclined to see it. But... who could pass up a chance to look at Julia Roberts? I loved the movie. Right from the beginning. The two lead actors are pros. Their facial expressions can say just about anything. I found myself laughing more with this movie than any so called comedy I have seen in a very long time. And nowhere in the film did they rely on the F word, or gross out behaviour for a laugh. There were just so many funny moments in this film. I thought Hank's writing was an excellent achievement. So many subtle things in this movie. A great joy. Go see it.

Two actors, Tom and Julia, who basically "phoned in" their wooden performances. Goofy dialogue, no flow, girly-man story line. I would rather watch wallpaper peel.
