Masterpiece sums it up very well. Brilliant set designs, everything looks and feels so real. Dirty, violent, ignorant and rude people abound within the confines of Deadwood, but no poor or even moderately sub-standard acting, directing or filming. The cowboys are dirty, and you can almost smell how bad they look as you watch. Great stories, fantastic drama. A whole lotta cursin goin on, so if that offends you, you likely won't make it through ten minutes. Naked whores to boot, if the cursing didn't offend you enough, that may. Finally, blood, murder and the like are not in shortage either. The writing though, fantastic!
