I just opened my How-to-Make-a-Zombie-movie manual. There are two clear protocols for this genre of movie. The first and MOST important one is to make us laugh at some hideous murder. This can be an ironic one (like if it takes place on a golf range then somebody has to be festooned with golf balls to death or have a driver wedged somewhere) or just plain nutty like an escalator death with intestines flying... The second rule is to have fresh kills, and if possible more guts flying! Anyway this movie had a couple of good scenes as they were appropriately graphic or well "executed". But after that the movie failed. Not only can you tell who is going to die but you guess the order of their death in chronological order after the first ten minutes. Zombieland was much better as it took a humorous path. Surely in the 21st century audiences can't be scared at a plain old zombie movie. They have to be entertained... In closing I would like to draw your attention to the lead male... What's with his body proportions? Whenever you see him in full body length shots, it looks like the trunk of his body goes all the way to his knees!! Weird shape. So wait for the movie to hit the TV... don't even rent it.
