Tarantino and Rodrigues serve up a double helping of ham and cheese here... And it's a darn tasty mix. Yes, it's schlocky and ridiculous in a lot of ways, but also crazed and brilliant. Planet Terror is an over-the-top gorefest and gross-out romp. Deathproof is actually a more serious effort... Silly and fun, but more in the spirit of the real '70's cheap thrillers where budgets and production values were low, but the acting and dialogue actually had some shining nuggets mixed in with the dross. It would be a great mistake to leave without seeing Deathproof. Yes, it's silly in a way, but it's carefully crafted and well-executed silliness... And Kurt Russell is GREAT! If it doesn't look like the kind of thing you enjoy, I can understand that. But if you're on the fence over whether to see it... Take the chance. You'll get your money's worth and more.
