Very smart movie that continuously challenges the viewer and his/her perceptions yet never confuses, this dramatic thriller is a homerun with an amazing script and perfect cast. I loved the pacing as well. It starts off fairly slowly and then speeds up continuously right to the end of the film. One thing I really liked is that there were no stupid surprise twists which Hollywood seems to have a current obsession with. The entire movie, I'm half-worried that some big twist will change the way I've been perceiving the film but I'm glad that doesn't happen. It's also the first George Clooney movie which I feel didn't play off his looks at all. EVERY one of his movies involves scene after scene of his charming smile and that gets old real quick (especially for a hetero like me) In fact, I'd say that he's never been more likeable in a movie. I adored his character. It probably helps that he finally had some real lines. Anyway, as far as dramatic thrillers go, it's near-perfect. I'm glad that we get to see movies that don't dumb-to-down for their audiences. You'll find yourself smiling during the climax of the movie as much of the pleasures of this movie sneak up on you. It actually reminded me slightly of the Bourne Ultimatum in terms of pacing and great characters. Most definitely recommended. I bet it would even be strong the 2nd time though.
