I adore a good horror movie. Insidious and Sinister were some of my favourites, and I kind of liked the Paranormal Activity series, so I was interested in Dark Skies, up until the trailer. The trailer of this movie was so laughably bad that I decided to give this flick a pass. After reading Mikael's review, I decided to give it a try. And, although not perfect, this was a quality horror film. THE GOOD: Good scares, perfect soundtrack, good acting, decent story, good pace, interesting scenes. THE BAD: Too long, not unique and laughably bad scares (rarely) THE UGLY: THE ENDING!!! Ugh, I hate it when movies end on a bad note. Though the last 10 seconds were awesome, the last 10 minutes were pretty bad. OVERALL: A decent alien/horror movie with a good plot, though not unique at all. See it if you are in the mood for a good alien horror movie. RATING: 7.5/10.

Very well done and well organised for such a low budget movie, wasn't predictible at all, a mix of Signs and Paranormal Activity (hate both of those movies but loved this) good for some great scares, at one point I freaked out and was hiding in my jacked but at others it was predictible which I thought was very poor until the end when they take you back and show you everything that ties it all together and that's what I liked about this film. Still, overall loved the cast but could have gone without soo many seizures, scared me more than the movie.

Another ho-hum "scary" movie this time about aliens who terrorize a suburban family for, as the movie actually claims, no apparent reason whatsoever. All the films best bits are in the trailer, the rest is your typical parental skepticism, shouting matches and creepy child behaviour that are in every other movie of this type. Good performances all around help but pretty much a waste of time.

Well paced thriller with good old fashion jump out of your seat scares. Loved the concept but did not like the ending. Worth the watch if you’re into suspense thrillers with a bit of scares thrown in.

'Dark Skies' is a sci-fi thriller that wants to be an adult drama. It doesn't quite pull it off. Instead, it feels like 2 movies are going on at once; one, a film about a couple whose marriage is strained by financial pressures while their pre-teen son struggles with coming of age, the other a scary movie about aliens with all the usual cliches to make you jump. If the acting and writing were better, the combination might have worked. Not a terrible film, but not great.

I have to tell PLEASE people if you like drama go see that stuff, or if you like musicals go see that rainbow stuff... now if you like horrors, supernatural stuff this is a very nice flick, good suspense during the movie from beginning to end, I liked it a lot... but my #1 film of alien still is The Fourth Kind.

If you're looking for a good scary movie I'd definitely recommend this one! Clever ending, good story line and pretty scary throughout the whole movie.

When I went in I did not know what the movie was about, have not seen any previews. I went in to see it cause I saw Insidious on the poster. I am not a fan of alien movies but this was surprisingly very good to watch. Great thriller. Keeps you guessing, had some scary scenes, it definitely proved you don't need a lot of blood to be scared.

Good thriller. You're not sure for quite a while if this is an alien abduction movie, a supernatural possession movie, or the story of a troubled family where people are going off the rails. Worth seeing.

I know movies. This was an awesome one. Everything from start to finish was great. I was completely satisfied with my experience and am definitely buying this one when it comes out on Blue ray. It's been about 2 years since I've seen a bad movie. I just don't get why people give them low ratings. It's a movie, relax have fun and enjoy the ride. Some people are picky and that's why they don't enjoy the movies. This one was fun and I'd even go see it again.

Really good alien horror movie, not a lot of blood and gory and it allows for imagination to take over the visual aspect of recent horror movies which leave nothing to the imagination. The ending was open to interpretation which was appropriate.

Horrible pathetic poor excuse for a movie. Acting so so. The plot was miserably bad. If you believe in aliens before you see this, you might change your mind after. What a joke. Please save your money or see something else. The ending might lead you to believe there may be a sequel but I don't think they can be that stupid.

This was a really good movie! It was a little slow throughout but never boring, there was always something overly creepy going on that kept the mood freaky. Lots of parts where I jumped out of my seat, and this is coming from a guy who's been watching horror movies since he was 8 years old, worth a look!

This supernatural thriller was not as scary as lead to believe. The theory was good, but I believe it could have been so much better. The aliens were not too effective. The acting was ok and the ending was so so. Overall was ok.

I found this movie suspenseful and entertaining. The only complaint I can give is that, like any suspense movie, it was predictable. We've seen many of the same occurences in most movies of this genre.

The acting was fine. The plot was kind of weak. I did not get scared at all. I wish there was more believability as that may have helped scare me - even just a little. If you are looking for a big scare you will not find it in this film.

This was suspenseful and good acting from the kids. It's an Alien Abduction thriller, and the aliens and the way they distort time as an "attack" to confuse and disorient the family is a very good technique the director used. Overall a very suspenseful movie and hope they do a Part 2 based on the ending.

What a wast of time. I just got home from seeing it with my son 16 years old and his girlfriend. It was the worst movie I have ever seen. And they both agree. The ending sucked and the film had a bad plot. Very much a waste of both time and money.

Superb cinematography. Well paced. A little cheese and maybe a bit over the top and frayed towards the end but definitely one of the better alien films released. I'll see it again.

I thought it was an awesome movie. I believe in aliens and love alien movies so my opinion is a little biased. Quite a few scary parts, at least I thought so. I get really into movies so I'm easily spooked. Definitely go see it if you like alien movies or scary movies. Great plot as well.

I had no expectations from this movie, but when I saw it I didn't expect it to be so bad. Acting was ok, more or less. But the plot is just pathetic. Half of the audience lost interest after about half an hour and the other half was laughing at the "scary" moments. If I'd have to describe it in one word I'd say "pathetic".

It's like a mix of Signs, Paranormal Activity & Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's not very original, but I have to say, I was thoroughly entertained and actually pretty scared at times. I think it's better than you might expect.

It's actually fairly well directed, with the cinematography and score nicely creating a creepy mood. But the script is weak and the acting doesn't convey the panic that a family in this situation should feel (which, to be fair, probably comes down to the directing) The film got big laughs at several moments that weren't supposed to be funny, which is never a good sign.
