Is this film autobiographical? Jenny Lumet, daughter of Sidney Lumet and grand-daughter of Lena Horne certainly nailed the attitude of many addicts in Anne Hathaway's portrayal of self-absorbed Kym. A broken home, an envious younger sister (Rachel), a new friend to transport her, a guilt-ridden mother, a deadly family secret and a liberal attitude to interracial marriages all add up to utter chaos in a financially secure household. The neighbours would never know. A good one.
