The trailer for this movie was funny but so was the whole movie and I laughed out loud far more than I expected. The director successfully alternated between themes of humor, poignancy and human frailty. I have to disagree with the reviewer named Madrisa about sexual content. While the actors lacked the smoldering chemistry found in passionate affairs, they seemed sexually authentic for any couple who have been together for close to twenty years. I also enjoyed watching Annette Bening's sensitive yet funny portrayal of the analytical strong "male energy" partner. Anything more 'butch' would have been over the top and bordered on caricature - which in my view would have been a disservice the queer community. I recommend it highly for its depth, humor and its depiction of an alternate but equally viable family structure. While this film was not perfect, I've also rated it higher than usual as I felt that it was unwarranted and unfair to rate this move as a "2."
