Better than average movie, with a great story, and a nice twist. I for one was the ending coming about halfway through, although I made room for the possibility that a deal with the devil was made... Anyways, it's a bit like The Illusionist. I don't know how come I didn't know about this movie sooner.

One of the movies I have been dying to see was The Prestige, starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. I love movies about magic, and Christopher Nolan is one of my favourite producers/directors. The buzz about this movie is almost only positive, and I must say, I loved it. Nolan was the real magician in this movie, for making a film this brilliant. THE GOOD: Outstanding acting, brilliant plot/script, amazing cinematography and special effects, keeps you guessing until the end and even after! THE BAD: A little slow half way through, but picks up after. THE UGLY: none. OVERALL: A brilliant film that is definitely worth your time. See it if you like a good mystery and magic. RATING: 9.25/10.

The Prestige is mind-twisting, brain-teasing, and makes you want to watch it again. It delivers in every sense of the word. ".. you have to bring it back." That line defined the movie, and was instantly the reason why The Prestige was so magnificent.

This sci-fi story of turn of century magicians in London is a stunner. The unhealthy relationship between the two magicians is one of the core elements to the film. The real "prestige" to the movie is the narrative with the final payoff in how this story resolves itself. The real magician to the film is the director Christopher Nolan in how he uses a non-linear narrative with flash-forwards and flashblacks only revealing so much as the real magic act to any trick is the ending. For a turn of the century sci-fi movie it works as a cautionary tale between the obsessive sick relationship of the two magicians. David Bowie scientific creation of a machine that creates clones poses all soughts of ethical questions found in all great sci-fi. THE PRESTIGE is one of Nolan's most inventive movies. This filmmaker has yet to make a bad movie as INCEPTION seems on the basis of the trailer to be his most ambitious film to date.

This is a really good movie and there are alot of twists but it is kind of unrealistic and kind of goes of the subject of illusionists.

It's been a long time since an original story line has hit the big screen. This one was great! It kept you guessing and was full of twists and turns. It was a little slow at times, but overall a must see!

The Prestige is an amazing movie! It has something for all the junior movie critics out there. The acting is super. Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Scarlett Johansson all do great jobs portraying all aspects of their unique and fascinating characters. The costumes and inventions are also very well done. All are appropriate for the time period and are quite vibrant and eye catching. The Prestige has action, romance and mystery, what more could you ask for in a movie? I mean there's hot guys, pretty girls and vicious rivalry. The plot will constantly have you guessing throughout the entire movie. And with an amazing shocker of an ending you'll leave the theatre in amazement of how there could be a better movie out there.

We actually watched this on video last night - but would have paid full price for this one! We all LOVED it... And spent 1/2 an hour reviewing the video and figuring it out all out. It was like 6th sense where when it was over you did a quick rewind in your mind to make sense of the whole thing! Awesome!

I loved this movie, it did not only have a great story line but a very unpredictable ending. It was a bit confusing at times so make sure you can watch it with someone to explain what is happening if you get lost. This is by far one of the best movies I've seen in 2007.

Great movie. It was different than I expected. The characters didn't inspire sympathy, and maybe it wasn't all that believable, but that wasn't the point- the story is about the characters obsessions, with each other and with their own demons. They can't help them, and so these obsessions ultimately they lead to their demise. It's not supposed to be a feel good 2 hour magic show... It's so much more!

I really wanted to like this movie - I saw it twice. After the 2nd time I realized just how bad it was. Aside from the lead characters being fundamentally dislikeable (selfish, self-centered, and vengeful), it went from being probable to improbable with the cloning machine. It did in fact remind me of Star Trek. I know why they called this movie "The Prestige" - because "The Grudge" was already taken.

Twins? Teletranportation? Are you kidding me? I like a thoughtful movie, but I don't like getting circle jerked. Why don't you just say it was space aliens in a Star Trek episode - the captain gets split into the "evil" Kirk and the "good" Kirk - or maybe cloning using stem cell research done in the present and then the guys invented a time machine and went back to use their skills a hundred years ago? Either one would have been more believable than this junk.

This is a really good movie. I saw it with my parents and after it was over I had to get them to explane it to me because its really good but VERY confusing! Go see it but take someone who will be able to explane it to you if you need!

Hugh and Christian did what they were expected to do; the characters themselves were quasi-refreshing (though some might argue it's difficult to sympathise with either of them) Regardless, I thought the movie kept your interest throughout, and wasn't as confusing as some people are saying it is. Once you got through a flashbacks it became somewhat more clear what was going on. Gave it a seven only because the ending didn't buy me at all. Was somewhat disappointed by it. Could have done so much better.

The story is very interesting and the suspense level is high during the whole movie. But the ending is predictible and a lot of elements are exagerated. It could have been the best movie of the year but there's a lot of useless dialogues and there's too many things happening at the same time, at the end, it doesn't even fit that well together.

Rent this! Then you can watch it twice. I played a fine balance of predicting exactly what was going to happen next and trying to figure out what just happened. More wondering in the beginning, and more predicting by the end. I just wish there was more Scarlett.

A GREAT MOVIE! Although it was a little bit confusing at the beginning, you can still follow the events well. The overall effect and mood was captured very well. Hard to believe some people would actually go so far just to prove they're better. Younger ones might not understand the plot until they're being explained to after the movie but it's definitely worth my money.

I saw that this movie had a rating of 8.5/10, therefore I watched it thinking it would be very good. It was not very good. It was average at best. This film could have been 30 minutes shorter and a lot more clever. If you are interested in a film that deserves 8/10, then see 'The Guardian'. If you want an average film about magic that is very forgettable, then see this movie.

A rather confusing tale of two magicians who would rather sabotage each others stage performances than simply focus on their own careers and their own tricks. All the hi-jinx doesn’t seem to affect the reputations of either magician has each gets more famous as time passes so one wonders why each had so many problems with each other. My problem with this picture is all the jumping between scenes from the characters past and present. The time jumping made it hard to follow what was really going on. Some of the dialogue between characters added to my confusion. Equally bizarre is the story is set in 19th century London, England and Colorado Springs, Colorado. 2006 seemed to be the year for movies about magic and illusion, this is not the best one, The Illusionist is a much better picture..

This movie was full of mind boggling thrills. You spend the entire movie thinking one way, and by the end of it you have completely changed your way of thinking. It is absolutely fabulous. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys mystery, passion, and a twisted ending.

It's an engaging plot and Christian Bale is spell-binding as usual (I love his line saying that once people learn the secret of your magic, they lose interest in you... ), but High Jackman really doesn't seem a worthy adversary. My main criticism is that there wasn't more development and hints along the way to piece the ending together. Oh, well. It's worth comparing this with 'The Illusionist'; film-makers must be into magic this year.
