Best movie of 2008 so far. A really entertaining adventure movie for children with enough imagination to make it great for all ages. Some great CGI work really keep the suspension of disbelief up for the entire film. It's a textbook family entertainment movie. Great for all. It lacks the depth of Harry Potter or Narnia but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Golden Compass and that awful Seeker movie lacked depth as well and were terrible. This is nothing close to being a bad movie. My only complaints are: 1) I needed to see more Nick Nolte as Mulgarath. That was the COOLEST scene in the movie (could the sound have been any better? WOW) and 2) I've officially had it with actors playing both twins. It becomes SO obvious in some scenes when they're not squarely looking at one another. The days of The Parent Trap are DONE. I would have been okay if they changed the book slightly to have two brothers who simply look similar in some ways. Finally, I really liked how the movie runs the full gambit of emotions. From awe to fear (some scenes are SERIOUSLY scary) to sadness (really sweet ending made me cry :) definitely recommended.
