I really love this film. The women are amazing and their stories are fascinating. You fall in love with this film. There has never before been such a complete history of Burlesque from which I learned so much. Everyone should see this film. If I lived back then, I would have wanted to be them.

I've seen this movie and was amazed at the impact burlesque has had on the evolution of the entertainment industry. Often marginalized, burlesque clubs were a proving ground of sorts for many performers (not always women!) who went on to fame in more 'respected houses'. Some famous actors got their first exposure to show business as they spent time with their parents who performed in burlesque or worked in the periphery. Director/Writer Leslie Zemeckis clearly respects her subjects as she shines an unbiased light on an oft-times misunderstood and forgotten but very important pillar of the current entertainment industry.

What a beautiful film. It was wonderfully executed, entertaining and educating at the same time. It's an important piece of American history that needed to be told. Everyone should run see it. It is also the most excellent topic for any dinner party!

So proud of all the research and work that Leslie put in to this documentary. It gives the world a look in to what the whole Burlesque movement was all about, and why people were involved in it. It was an actual art form and the characters were amazing. I loved all their props and hearing their individual stories. They really had fallen among hard times and were trying to make a living and as well as take care of their families, also just give some joy to a depressed society. Than you, for this insight.

A fascinating documentary showing the amazing lives of women who performed the art of burlesque in the early part of the century. It is a very comprehensive look into the lives of female and male performers with wildly entertaining interviews, old photos and footage from the time period. Highly informational and entertaining!
