This film has "GRITTY" written all over it. Dark, well done, it got to me completely. It draws you in with its violent beginning and makes you feel bad throughout (it just had to be intended) A movie for the ones who appreciate a realistic look at what being too passionate about your job can lead to and at the darker side of law enforcement (and about their useless bureaucracy and politics) The slow pace was essential to convey the sense of emotional dread that lingers on in this film and it did not bother me at all. Ray Liotta still has the massively violent one liners and antics (I wouldn't want this cop on my case) and does a believable, terrific job. Jason Patric gives a great performance and made me forget "Speed 2" altogether. If you like your movies character-driven, intense, plot-twisted, violent (without the big budget "far-fetched action") and well-thought, then what are you waiting for? For the rest, well... Stay home and watch Vin Diesel's "Triple-X", you'll hate "Narc"...
