Wonderful acting in this shakespearean story about anti-semitism and, in general, how despised minorities are treated. Yet it is frustrating to know that while many modern novels and plays are amended yet put to film, Shakespeare is treated as something that is treated as sacrosanct. I mean, doesn't the dignified and tragic figure of Shylock deserve justice. Finally, I think that having the prostitutes walk around topless is just a bit gratuitous, especially since they are just used as background ornaments.
