Character personification is one of the most challenging duties of an actor. In The American, Clooney comes very close to personifying a lonely, professional and ruthless killer who still has some emotions. Even though the movie is slow, this does not make of it a boring movie. The Castel del Monte village in rural Italy is breathtakingly beautiful. The camera shots are well done. Good movie... worth seeing despite all the negative criticism.
